Re: Mermaid Tails
I call that one the boomerang. it was built as a handheld unit it is made of carbon so it is fairly stiff. it relies on fiber direction for flex and thrust, and being hand held I was able to change the AOA as needed.( have some video of it being used in the pool I will see if it is posted anywhere a...

Re: Mermaid Tails
If you are going to build something from scratch you might consider creating a two piece design that could separate and be used when needed, and lock together when you wanted to swim like a mermaid (who doesn't want to do that lol). my venture into hydrofoils grew out of a hand-fin design i came up ...

"?????!!" I just thought that it looked like a sled, and with that bottom shape you might even have some control (you know they actually have snow shovel races ?)

Re: SR-72 canard H fin
Thanks, funny you should mention the Mylar sheeting, I have toyed with that idea, I'm still researching the best material and method of attachment, but I have envisioned a foil that is only a minimal frame with interchangeable (fabric?) skin for varying conditions. That is at least three generations...

Re: SR-72 canard H fin
Hi Crispi, glad to hear you're enjoying your success with the latest model. I'd love to see that thing in action. I've been working on a few new designs. I've got three built and have two more configurations to build for more comprehensive testing. I have only tested two of them in the pool but they...

Re: SR-72 canard H fin
Hi Guys,,
awesome work as always Crispi
I'm Just guessing of course but,I think that the decrease in drag (or lack of increase)may be due to the disturbance caused by the front wing, which may break up the water so to speak clearing a path for the rear wing.

Re: Very latest wing board
It's just a wild guess but ,, It might be possible that the wing edge and the board rail are acting together to suck water in between the two (using the Bernoulli effect) resulting in better hold on the face. Maybe not,,, Your shape is way more complex than mine so it's probably creating hold in a d...

Re: Very latest wing board
I plan on starting with basically a version of my foil turned up side down with no fins on the sides, I think I've taken a picture of it mocked up before I will look around for it. My problem really isn't the space, it's the smell and the dust. My garage is attached to a common area in my condo so i...

Re: Very latest wing board
Beautiful as ever,, I wish you weren't building them on the other side of the world,, I would buy one in a hearbeat. I've been thinking about building a convex wing because I'm interested to see how they would handle the vertical sections ( not that I see those much), unfortunately I don't currently...

Re: Very latest wing board
Hi Chrispi, good to see you actively posting again, Concerning weight, for the actual riding of the wave to some extent a little more weight is a good thing, it can help power through some whitewater and carries speed a little better. For me weight becomes an issue when dealing with the paddle out a...

Re: Very latest wing board
The board is looking great. Don't worry too much about not having a lot of responses. It seems like plenty of folks are checking out your progress.. A lot of people even though they want to see what you're up to, don't feel like they can add much to the conversation so they don't. I feel that way ab...

Re: Very latest wing board
I think you will be happier moving the foil a little distance away from the board,,in my opinion it allows them to work somewhat independently of each other, and when the planing surface of the board is not needed it is far enough out of the way to not slow you down.. my first foil had 6 inches (152...

Re: Very latest wing board
Hi Chrispi, Looks like another interesting version of your wing board. Seems like you plan to have the foil appx. 4 inches ( sorry I don't know the metric equivalent) offset from your board. Since I never tried the foil right up next to the board I can only guess at what the differences are but,, My...

Re: Carl Ekström Board
Every time I look at that board ( especially because of the vent plug) it reminds me of a hollow plastic kayak..
So it gets me to wondering has anyone ever produced a bodyboard that way?
And what might be some of the problems doing it that way?

Re: My lates Wing board
Thanks Brett, Any pics you could post of your setup would be nice. I'm no longer working for the composite preform company so my scrap supplies are dwindling. It's better to have a setup that I can use at home anyway and cheap is good.. There's been an older used diaphragm pump listed locally here o...

Re: My lates Wing board
I've been looking into which route to take with the vacuum pumps.. The aquarium pump is cheap and quiet, but the conversion on the new model of the tetra pump worries me a bit.. The rotary vane like the one you have is reliable but loud and puts out an oil vapor,, I'm trying to decide whether or not ...

Re: My lates Wing board
Hi Chris, Thanks for the info in applying the foam, it will come in handy on my next board. OG-AZN, This is my latest video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9R-axvhXsxg The surf sucked and there's definitely no barrel footage on this day, but it does show a few takeoffs. As far as paddle outs go, ob...

Re: My lates Wing board
Awesome, hope you get on some of that long period swell you were talking about. I was wondering if you would share the technique and materials you used for attaching the foam to your board. I used some scrap sea deck from a local paddleboard shop for mine but I would like to do something closer to w...
