Re: Skimboard Paipo

ClanB recently described using a skimboard as a trial before getting a paipo and I recall Poobah ages ago suggesting a skimboard as a cheap travelling alternative to a paipo. I may be able to go surfing in Canada and it occurred to me a skimboard might be a good option as I won't have a board with ...

Re: Good first paipo

Aloha gang,
All boards are good once you find your body placements on the board. Skim Board, yes cause of its narrow shape. I could ride it like and still perform meneuver as a regular rigid rails paipo board. Both foam and wood are good, one has more floatation than the other.

Re: 2014 Buffalo's Big Board paipo comp-anyone go this year?

Aloha gang, yeah`, I was invited by Uncle B and Brian K. for a "Special Events" of collecting 100+ "Bodysurfer" to show and participate in this special events. When we got there, surf was breaking 4'-6'ft in the morning, Buffalo's Ohana will cooking their Hawaiian Style of "...

Re: Riding position

Aloha gang, you know what, they all are good posture in body placement. As i see in photo's, everyone has that one-hand up front and the other on the side like a bodyboarder positions. And it's still good to use, some other paipo-riders has their inner (arm against face of wave) reaching out as a &q...

Re: First Build

I would go ALL. And see what fit BEST. When making your templates of each boards, you can either add and minus, nose, mid way and tail, to find point your personal designs. I notice their all @ 43-1/2" (H), these sizes from my experiences are BIG waves and shore-breaks boards. Its a nice height...

Re: uss starship enterprise

Aloha gang, tripple 6oz.? wow, that would be alot like what,Poobah stated. Longer boards length, would be slightly difficult to duck-dive. Even with 48"-52" is sometime hard to duck-dive in shallow surf, so I turn my board width wise and with one hand on the front to push down while the ot...

Re: Wanting to build my first board and not sure about size

Aloha krusher74, Like what Bob stated, 2/3 of your height. And what I found out is adding shoulder width (point to point) adding 2'in. would give you a starting point on your layout on the board, before cutting and shaping. Then make yourself a template and with that, you can play with your template ...

Re: Sticks or Lids, Moynier Wants To Know

Robert Moynier asked me to post this question on the forum: The questions to be posed is:how do you think a suitably shaped, (either foam /glassed, wood,or carbon fiber) paipo would perform in these kinds of waves? What are the relative plus and minus characteristics of the bodyboard versus paipo…e...

Re: Deathbed Displacement Paiphull

Like the shape and design. Flex is good, if your the type of rider that love the "take-off" and taking a narly-drop with positive bottom-turns and off the lip cut-backs. I had a PC 1/2" sheet that is similar to your board shape that perform perfect on drops and cut-backs. I had snappe...
