Re: longboard fin box in paulownia 18mm?

I have been standing for a few months, without building anything, I needed to rest and enjoy the waves with my current paipos I discard the idea of a finbox for the paipo, but I have seen an idea of Brett Curtis that has inspired me, to design a twinzer in aluminum, I do not know the thickness, 5mm ...

paipo paulownia with rib?

In a few weeks I want to make another paipo, I am very happy with the paulownia of 18. But I can not guarantee the rocker I want, when I do it I have to count on the return of the wood and it is totally uncontrolled I never know how it will be I have been studying a few boat constructions these days...

Re: How to add plywood skegs to a finless plywood board ?

Why not glass them? when two woods are glued, as a rule the glue has to be more elastic than wood, if it is glued with polyester or epoxy, it flexes with the bending es cuando se pegan 2 maderas, por norma la cola tiene que ser mas elástica que la madera, si se pega con poliéster o epoxy, este con ...

Re: longboard fin box in paulownia 18mm?

I have not found pictures about Dale Solomonson, a sadness, but with your description I have started to study seriously and I had a great result thanks to the photos of Richard Palmer's, Greenough and more work and his kneeboard spoon. It's just what you describe, a wide flat base and overhead drill...

Re: longboard fin box in paulownia 18mm?

another solution is to remove it from the top, like this spoon, but I do not know if it will hurt me when paddling and catching waves have a minimum depth of 28mm 28-18mm board: 10mm that comes out on top, put a 10mm table will bring a lot of weight es otra solución es sacarlo por la parte de arriba...

Re: longboard fin box in paulownia 18mm?

This is a more detailed design. I love designing in 3d before doing things in real, I do not finish liking that added, I prefer a flat base

es
esto es un diseño más detallado. me encanta diseñar en 3d antes de hacer las cosas en real, no me termina de gustar ese añadido, prefiero una base plana

Re: longboard fin box in paulownia 18mm?

This is a simple simulation of how a box of longboard fin box would look on an 18mm table. for now I have not come up with a better solution

esta es una simulación, sencilla de como quedaría una caja de longboard fin box en una tabla de 18mm. por ahora no se me ha ocurrido una mejor solución

fin box in paulownia 18mm? and other ideas, alloy fins

I want to make a paipo with a longboard keel, I can only buy 18mm boards. is a very good measure for the fcs keels, they are 15 deep. but I can not put a box for longboard keels, it is deeper crosses from side to side. I have thought to stick a ribbon on the bottom so I have 15 + 15 = 30 that if the...

paipo choppy big waves, make it

There are ideas that pierce my brain. they only rest when they become reality, however crazy they may be. This is one of those. An authentic madness that would not let me rest. It is a paipo designed for big waves on windy days with choppy seas. its measurements are 47x15, the bow type keel has a ma...

Re: paulownia + polyester+ fiberglass: rocker and flex

I have not put the measures of the keels for not extending myself in the story, since this post is oriented to the manufacture of paipo with paulownia and polyester. but if you want to comment, i do it first I designed some fins SF-4 PC Stretch Quad Set scaled to 4.5 high, I did not like the behavio...

Re: paulownia + polyester+ fiberglass: rocker and flex

You said it right, there are 2 parallel longboard fins. I wonder how this setup would work on a paipo, and in general, how single fins work on paipo boards These are the first 2 paipos I did, with the configuration of 2 fins of longboard, but as I did not have money to buy so many keels, I made the...

Re: paulownia + polyester+ fiberglass: rocker and flex

I don't reckon you can go past: http://www.surfmats.com/ Paul posts anywhere forgive for the inconvenience, surf mat has been a fleeting idea, I prefer the null flotation of wooden paipos. I can not assume the price you've given me, I love making my toys and try them in the water, for me it's the m...

Re: paulownia + polyester+ fiberglass: rocker and flex

You said it right, there are 2 parallel longboard fins. One of the big problems of the boards with a single fins is the width of the board in tail to 12 inches, if you want to have good grip, the tail has to be 14, 14.5 as much width, from there onwards the fin with the rail of the board loses effec...

Re: paulownia + polyester+ fiberglass: rocker and flex

Nice waves in the video ! Now I understand why you need some rocker. Big choppy and windy waves, probably not the ideal conditions for a flat plywood finless board indeed... A surfmat might be fun in these conditions, but if you don't like side slipping, forget it  These waves remind me this v...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onScB4vj70I Now I understand, we are looking for very different waves. Give me some waves like the ones in this video with few people and I am the happiest man in the world, as you can see they are usually always moved by the wind, they have a lot of thrust and a lot ...
