Nice kickboards !
I like these little planks, simple but efficient.
I usually ride plywood kickboards but yours seem more evolved.

Re: New project... this time a Paipo
I was too looking for very small fins for my paipo/kneeboard hybrid, and went for this alternative: 20210803_071101.jpg TMF knubster, it is supposed to be a center fin, I use it as twin fins. Comparing to the 2 classic thruster fins I tried before (bigger), the drag is significantly reduced, but it ...

Re: French paipo
New test this morning, in good clean waves. Knee riding this board was a blast, it has the agility of a paipo, like a paipo you can take off at the last moment, but once on knee you can do fun radical things, bottom turn, cut backs, although it won't pass flat sections most of the time. The bad part...

Re: French paipo
I tested the board, but it was too flat, the waves were too small. The good thing is that kneeboarding is easy on that thing, the shortness, the flat wide surface, it helps. The board has some floatation, which I am not used to. The keels fins seem too big for small waves. Next time I will use 2 cla...

Re: New project... this time a Paipo
I am not a big fan of cork, it does add a bit of floatation (not that much), but it takes days to dry. You don t need floatation on a paipo, it is just a comfort. Regarding the nose, I prefer it rounded, but it is a matter of preference.

Re: French paipo
Done !
I finally got the board.
I got a good discount on the board, as the paint job was not great.
Actually it looks like an actual old board
But the rest is good and quite conform to the original model.

Re: French paipo
The work is still in progress, it is very long, kind of a slow torture as I can't do anything but wait  It should be finished by the end of the week, normaly. Here is the board before the sanding process (the last part) Capture2.JPG Capture.JPG I already have a set of twin fiberglass keels that...

Re: New project... this time a Paipo
Once the board will be finished it would be interresting to compare both bodyboard and paipo behaviors in the water, considering they will have similar dimensions and shape.

Re: French paipo
It is going good so far. The shaper was a bit confused by the rails on the original photos. I was too so I told him to stick to the original board as much as possible.

Re: French paipo
Hi there, My shaper finaly received the blank, after a long time. So, he asked me to explain what board I wanted exactly so he can start working on it. At the last moment I completely changed my mind, and choose the vintage option. Basically I gave him this link https://mypaipoboards.org/boards/RodB...

Re: French paipo
I played around with photoshop, just wanted to reproduce the proportions of the board comparing to my size, it should be like this:

Re: French paipo
The shaper has already ordered the materials (piece of foam, fins plugs, paint) after my validation so it will have to fit in 50x110 cm, witch is basically the size of a bodyboard (a bit longer, my bodyboard is 105cm long), and have two futures fins. I will probably want a basic mini simmons shape, ...

Re: French paipo
Rodndtube, I think you're right, a downscale version of the Austin shape without reducing the width would lead to a weird shape. I will probably go for a basic "thumbstone" template, straight rails, rounded nose, like a mini mini simmons. I will also go for a pretty flat bottom, only a lit...
