This isnt a critisim more of my own thought. Rather than glass could you use paulownia? Grain going length ways b/matched so flex is evenish?

With the blanks..Is the cork on each side of equal thickness? Cork/glass/cork..or is it thicker on the hull side? How does the cork sand? Does it knock chunks out

Doesnt matter which you ride. At some point DO build yot own, riding something youve made is such a good feeling ;-)

At 19mm the flex might be a good thing. It wont suck up water, I took out a WR unsealed one and it was fine.

Not had any trouble with absortion on this. I used yacht glue but I reckon a thin layer of epoxy resin is better for sticking it down. The yacht stuff expands and can get messy.

Cheers Mike, its glued up so Ill finish it and see how he gets on, Ill go thicker on the next one. Thats an amazing finish, is it varnish?

Thanks for the explanation UG, Ive only used paulownia and wr cedar. Its gonna be a while until I can get my hands on the balsa. Ill post some stuff Im working on. Cheers

Cheers, long time lurker. Landlocked now but thats going to change. Ive never used balsa but I might have found a good source, does it have the strength not to be glassed? Just oiled?
