Ted,
Do you the same injury would have happened on your HPD given the fact that it too is a very thin rail?
Also, how is the hand doing?

Re: Paipo Boarder at Rincon?
Honestly, my son & I both think that it is a mat do to the lack of arch. I do know of a couple of mat surfers that surf Rincon exclusively.

Sounds like a very personal "small" problem you have!rodndtube wrote:I have enough trouble with inches, or quarters of inches as it is.bgreen wrote:It's catching Rod.

That looks amazing! We need to get a ride report from whomever gets that if we can find out whom it is.

Re: John Galera nofin on Youtube
I think that you are correct. By going as wide as they are, planing should be easier than in a narrow board. I am having another Xylem shaped with rolled bottom (belly) and it is going to be 22 inches wide like the No-Fin.

Re: vintage video
I don't know how many times that I have watched that video, but it is still my favorite paipo vid It is amazing how much technique can be learned from that video that is from over 50 years ago. It makes me think of de-evolution.

Re: My new SDF surfboard Paipo
I just realized that the dimensions of this board are very close to my latest plypo. The maneuverability is amazing given that it still has plenty of speed and hold.

Re: cracking plywood with the grain
Douglas fir marine ply does this big time. Speaking from frustrated experience. Using fine sand paper could somehow start a new slab of top layer to rip off.

I live in Ventura. It is about an hour north of Los Angeles. Let me know when you are down this way. Plenty of breaks here.

I will do my best, but Dale no longer has a phone or internet at home. He taught me everything I knew about mat surfing and that has sure carried over to other alternative surf craft.

That would be the one! My board has no paint so it was not a concern. I wanted something that would not come off.

Re: Xylem Malama Kai paipo
I bought a leash attachment from a local surf shop that uses an adhesive made by 3M. It had a small piece of fine sandpaper and a wet wipe(yeah I have kids). I just followed the instructions, let it set for 24 hours and presto! I do not remember the brand.
