Re: TBG5 Step Up

I've read that the rear fins can be more vertical in this kind of set up, and it looks that way in the photos. Do you have measured numbers on the difference in cant?

I imagine this fin arrangement has been done on kneeboards. Are there any previous examples of it on a paipo or sponge?

Re: Paipoboards California

The seller is a former roommate of Gordon Theiz. He says he hasn't spoken to Gordon in decades. The board has been relisted at $450. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-California-Paipoboard-Belly-Board-Surfing/281883511951?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%...

Re: Paipoboards California

That link from the main Interviews page to the questionaire doesn't stand out very well Maybe it needs a graphic or picture. Something that would get the attention of older guys, like Clara Bow at the beach.

Re: Paipoboards California

It's tricky, because Ebay doesn't want you to exchange emails through their messaging system. They have software to prevent that. I usually ask people to Google paipo interviews (rather than paipo forum.) On the interview page there's a link for people to submit their story. That might be what Rod d...

Paipoboards California

I saw this handled board on ebay today (link at bottom.) calpaipo01.jpg calpaipo02.jpg I asked the seller if he knew who shaped the board, and he replied: Myself and 2 room mates, no one famous but we should have been. With a little bit of advice from Hoby Alter (begrudingly) So Rod...Bob..is this s...

Re: TBG5 Step Up

Early in the thread you mentioned a forked nose. Have you considered something more subtle, like the crescent nose on the Turbo Z?

Re: Frankenboogie Mk. II

About a dozen years ago, I made my own monstrosity out of foam and plywood. I was trying to add flotation to a wood skimboard, while still retaining a thin rail. Basically an oblong cut of boogie board glued onto the wood skimboard with contact cement. I can't find a decent photo of it. Just a dista...

I was just tripping on the Waylo. It doesn't seem like it was really a dozen years ago.

Re: Cork and bamboo paipo

How about vacuum bagged over the deck of an old windsurfer, or a segment of a windsurfer? That way you could get both nose kick and a concave bottom. Or drop rails when the wide point is in the middle.

I was just checking on Vagabond Surf, and there are still some fossil remnants there. It's also the name of a Facebook Page. Somebody up in Canada.

Re: Lameroo - the origins of the term??

I confess that I poached people from Swaylocks. For example I think I poached Eef from Swaylocks. I came up with the name and concept for the League of Lamaroos while dring home from a Swaylocks gathering in Big Sur. 2003 I think. I also poached people on ebay. It was easier to do back then. You cou...

Re: Lameroo - the origins of the term??

I chose to be Grand Poobah, because I thought the title of Webmaster was way too grandiose. In the context of time, my website the League of Lamaroos was between Rod's paipo website and his paipo forum. A transitional period. My site was focused on photos and board measurements. Each board had its o...

Re: Lameroo - the origins of the term??

My old website was the League of Lamaroos, spelled with two letter A. I got it from Surf Research Australia: http://www.surfresearch.com.au/00000166.html Maybe it's based on a photo caption, or a diary entry. I seem to recall that the term was Northern Australian, but I don't remember where I read t...

Re: Chuck Dent Twin Fin 44x22

I intentionally set the starting price low.

There is some curvature to the deck at the nose, but not much. I've seen just one other Chuck Dent, and it was very similar in shape, and had the same blunt fins.
