Re: Space Quad Displacement Hull

Very cool about the quad being such a success! Do you use pretty much "standard" quad alignments and spacing? Or Soulglider "secret sauce"?

Re: Space Quad Displacement Hull

Thanks SG, reminds me of an extreme looking Andreini I saw at Mollusk in San Francisco. From what I know, the deepest part of the hull is sort of the sweet spot for driving those long long accelerating turns. Do you shift it back to move the sweet spot more under your hips? Or leave it more forward ...

Re: Space Quad Displacement Hull

Looking good! Would love to test that one, too bad we live on opposite sides of the world.

Did you round off the very thin edge of the rails or square them sort of alaia like w/ and edge top and bottom?

Great prices! How soft is the soft? Like a conventional bodyboard w/ carbon rods inside?

Re: Leash for fiberglass paipo/bellyboard?????

I have ridden bodyboard w/ leg leash attached to nose plug. Just used leash from my footie board, no issues as it seemed long enough to stay out of my way.

Re: Pumpkin Seed

Surprising to me it would need/be able to use that large of a fin. I would be very tempted to try it w/ a much smaller version, sort of proportionate. Esp since having legs/flippers if needed to recover tail slide if it starts to pop out and slide. If it would still hold you would get even more spee...

Re: sealing plywood

Quick and dirty for experimental boards-paraffin driven in w/ heat gun or stolen wife's hair dryer. Be sure to get plenty into the edges/end grain parts.

Re: Credit where credit is due (rant).

Definitely Rod for this site and Bob Green for the encyclopedia of info and history, and all those folks he has interviewed. Dale Solomonson got me lying down and interested in plywood and Nels gave me some serious bump in the paipo direction both personally and with his site vagabondsurfer.com and ...

it was only 3/8" thick but I glassed the bottom with 4oz S glass with epoxi My experience w/ broken surfboards is that they generally buckle on the deck. Laminated fiber glass is weakest under compression, the "inside angle" of a bend. So I think maybe stronger to glass the deck if o...

Whole big swaths of Cali north of SF Bay area, lots of semi and fully secret points that can really fire on the right swell, with plenty white sharks shopping for sleek, black, torpedo shapes to bite on. I lived in Sebastopol for over 10 years. Lots I loved and things I really didn't. Too cold in th...

Re: Are there any Commercial Paipos available on the market

I don't think you need to use words like "bullshit" in this forum. This is just a friendly discussion. "Well, he's just an excitable boy" "Excitable Boy" (Warren Zevon & LeRoy P. Marinell) Well, he went down to dinner in his Sunday best Excitable boy, they all said...
