Re: Holiday Greetings

Hello Og-Azn,

Did you get a chance to speak with Harry? Must have been interesting to watch his surfing.

All the best for 2012,

Re: Cuttlefish how did the paipo go?

Hello Cuttlefish, Good to hear you experienced the speed potential. In the last few point surfs I've had there's been a look of bewilderment and uncertainty when I get flying, with guys not quite sure what to do or where to paddle, but not dropping in. I toyed with the 2 hour drive but decided not t...

Re: Holiday Fundraiser Help

Rod, Thanks. A Cool hand Luke moment. I can see them at the bottom of the interviews. This one got me intrigued: Serious Fun Riversurfing Activities & Tours in Queenstown Bodyboard down the Mighty Kawarau River with the inventors and pioneers of riversurfing, 'blowing minds since 89'. Learn how ...

Cuttlefish how did the paipo go?

Hello Cuttlefish, I saw your post on Sways about riding your board at Noosa - how did it go? I surfed the S-bank Monday and a point a few kms south today. Surprisingly uncrowded today, while the S bank population looked like double yesterdays. Fun waves but the crowds take the edge off things. Those...

Re: Holiday Fundraiser Help

I may not have it installed, that's why I asked whether there was some other way ads could be hidden. While I should wear glasses more often, it would need to be an extremely small ad for me to miss it.

Re: Holiday Fundraiser Help

Rick,

I did a bit of searching. Seems like the symbol might be a stop sign. I don't have one of these anywhere I can see (top or bottom). Is it possible that you can zap ads with some other program or through some other means?

Rod,

Ok, which button? Remember you're dealing with a dummy. I did a search on Firefox and it wasn't enlightening.

Re: deathbed paipos rule.

Thanks. 300 lbs - I can see why it is 3". Even with the nose thin, mine is less than 1", depending on how much thickness you have in the tail area you can still end up with the same volume as a short standup board (due to board width). My next board will reduce volume by approximately a th...

Re: Are there any Commercial Paipos available on the market

It's a bit like who invented the shortboard. People of both genders had been riding shortboards for ages. It is a completely different question regarding who popularised the shortboard (and term bodyboard). Rod, I've been meaning to update my online history. It is now called: Paipo - Belly boarding ...

PaipoJim,

The HPD and ply/thin wood boards are the ultimate duckdivers. I also like foam boards but am curious about these thicker foam boards.

Re: deathbed paipos rule.

Now xmas is over (for us downunder at least) how thick is that board? If it is as thick as it looks I'm interested in the technique for getting such a board through waves. I've been going thinner & plan to go thinner again, because I found a board even 1 7/8" at the thickest point too much ...

Re: Are there any Commercial Paipos available on the market

On one level, "chook" just refers to a chicken that is eaten, on another level it is slang for something disorganised. I don't think younger people go into a shop and ask for a "chook" much but phrases like a "chook with it's head cut off" remain in the vernacular. For ...

Anyone talented at using photoshop? We have some photos that were taken from 70s slides and they could do with some cleaning up for an interview.

Soulglider, so does your displacement hull design differ in any significant way from a longer hull ? How do you turn your board?

Re: Fin recommendations

I bought a set of fins yesterday because I wanted to see if a different fin would more easily allow turns at speed. The previous fins were foiled both sides and wanted to go straight ahead while I wanted to turn. So they were cut right down and while an improvment, I wanted to know if I could do bet...

Re: A difference between designing a paipo and other boards

Rod, This issue of thickness distribution seems to play an important role in how far forward/back you ride. Your comment about - you may as well be handplaning, raises the issue of the HPD, which is more like sophisticated bodysurfing. While Paipojim (thanks) has way more experience riding a HPD tha...
