Re: The Beach Coaster
Surf shooting was another term. As surfing developed in little pockets, like surfers still do, lingo develops. I've been doing some research into prone surfing in France and Spain. Planking was a term used in places, wave runners, my favourite is the txampero (the gadget that allows someone to take ...

Vogue ski bellyboard
DSCN2552 (160 x 120).jpg DSCN2550 (160 x 120).jpg I was sent these photos which were taken yesterday at a single fin competition, where there was also a board display. Rather than a dodgy Aussie board,it is possible that it is an import. Check out the logo on this water ski from the Vogue Ski Compa...

Poobah,
A great find for a number of reasons. It contains a description of how people rode the boards of the time, it suggests not only use but people were thinking about how to improve performance.
There is interesting stuff to be found among patents.

Re: The next big thing
These sorts of boards are being ridden by competent surfers. Most guys would struggle to catch waves on them and being willing to return to the bottom of the pecking order is a different story again.
As I mentioned there is an irony to all this, being something new.

Re: The next big thing
There was a certain irony about my post which seems to have been lost. Uncle G, thanks I now know why my sleep is so rooted. It's that pineal gland. Uncle G, also appreciates some Australian humour. What is the connection between wattles & homosexuals? See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_f_p0CgP...

The next big thing
Surfing World is an Australian surfing magazine first published in the 1960s. It was a dominant mag for a while, almost folded and has had a bit of a resurgence in recent years, with a retro type feel. The latest issue (#322) has a page on David Rastovich, who has been riding glassed boogie boards w...

Other may have seen this before - lots of Newport logos: http://surfcrazy.com/stanleys/html/kneeboard-logos.html The 'Institute for Time Compression Studies Bellyboards' - I've never heard of this crew. Some more details: "institute for time compression studies, Experimental body boards, applie...

Hello Og-Azn,
Did you get a chance to speak with Harry? Must have been interesting to watch his surfing.
All the best for 2012,

Re: Cuttlefish how did the paipo go?
Hello Cuttlefish, Good to hear you experienced the speed potential. In the last few point surfs I've had there's been a look of bewilderment and uncertainty when I get flying, with guys not quite sure what to do or where to paddle, but not dropping in. I toyed with the 2 hour drive but decided not t...

Rod, Thanks. A Cool hand Luke moment. I can see them at the bottom of the interviews. This one got me intrigued: Serious Fun Riversurfing Activities & Tours in Queenstown Bodyboard down the Mighty Kawarau River with the inventors and pioneers of riversurfing, 'blowing minds since 89'. Learn how ...

Cuttlefish how did the paipo go?
Hello Cuttlefish, I saw your post on Sways about riding your board at Noosa - how did it go? I surfed the S-bank Monday and a point a few kms south today. Surprisingly uncrowded today, while the S bank population looked like double yesterdays. Fun waves but the crowds take the edge off things. Those...

I may not have it installed, that's why I asked whether there was some other way ads could be hidden. While I should wear glasses more often, it would need to be an extremely small ad for me to miss it.

Re: Holiday Fundraiser Help
Rick,
I did a bit of searching. Seems like the symbol might be a stop sign. I don't have one of these anywhere I can see (top or bottom). Is it possible that you can zap ads with some other program or through some other means?

Ok, which button? Remember you're dealing with a dummy. I did a search on Firefox and it wasn't enlightening.

Re: deathbed paipos rule.
Thanks. 300 lbs - I can see why it is 3". Even with the nose thin, mine is less than 1", depending on how much thickness you have in the tail area you can still end up with the same volume as a short standup board (due to board width). My next board will reduce volume by approximately a th...

Re: Are there any Commercial Paipos available on the market
It's a bit like who invented the shortboard. People of both genders had been riding shortboards for ages. It is a completely different question regarding who popularised the shortboard (and term bodyboard). Rod, I've been meaning to update my online history. It is now called: Paipo - Belly boarding ...

PaipoJim,
The HPD and ply/thin wood boards are the ultimate duckdivers. I also like foam boards but am curious about these thicker foam boards.
