Re: Nose thickness

Finless? The two white book-ends, the bonzer and the handled Quam, have only been ridden with fins. Of the remaining boards, you'll see only the orange board with a set of fins (small rounded keels). This board has fins because it draws a really long line and requires effort to do a cutback. The boar...

Re: Nose thickness

Foil.png
The first board in this series was 2 1/2 - 2 11/16 - 1 3/4; the board previous to this one was 1 3/4 - 1 3/4 - 1, so changes recently are more subtle and in the distribution.

Nose thickness

My favourite board is the dark green one. It has a foil more like a surfboard foil, with more volume in the nose area. The yellow board is the oldest and most similar to Larry's original design. It was # 2 in the series and thinner than the original. Excluding the red and the white boards, all the o...

Re: TBG5

The style of board I mostly ride was based on one of Larry Goddard's shapes, as were some of Nomas' early BBs. Larry favoured a thin nose, because he said the nose didn't do anything. I found these boards, nose-dived at speed, something Larry also found, at times. My current boards have more thickne...

Re: Handsfree selfie stick

Chrispi,

Any thoughts on a GoPro mount set-up that would work on a BB - shooting forward?

Helmet mounts seem most successful. The standard deckmount seems to low and you get water coming off the rails. A wrist fitting has similar problems.

Re: Pipeline, O`ahu North Shore

Jarrett,

The parallel arm hold position is noticeable. Do you reckon it works better on these type of waves?

Re: TBG5

Nomas, Good to hear that you may have a glasser. The flat area where you allowed for finboxes reminded me of this board. Wings_finished.jpg H2_bottom.jpg I have been very content with my current board, but with the world situation, I was looking at this board that I added the wings to and thinking o...

Re: Getting Churchill fins to fit

The footpocket is the correct size, same as I've had for years. The problem is that the footstrap doesn't have enough give. After a few weeks of suspension, I can get my feet into them. Apparently a Churchill rep, recommended to the retailer, using hot water. It does make fitting them in a store, a ...

I got my foot into the left fin this morning. Gravity is working. I'll keep trying over the next few weeks.

Getting Churchill fins to fit

As a long time Churchill fin user, the current sizing is a source of frustration. I can't get my feet into the latest pair. Last year, I tried a few pairs of the same size, at the same shop. One pair I could get my feet into, another pair I couldn't. I'm considering soaking in warm water for a while...

Re: fringesurfer.tv

I think the wave quality can be interpreted in a few different ways. On one level Tom is saying you can have fun riding nearly anything on a BB. On another, I suspect there was a narrow filming window. The video with Warren Pfeiffer included quite a few waves of him riding in the whitewater. So it c...

Re: Non Skinny Paipo

Given the reasons for the nose design, does it add much thickness? You'd assume it does but the nose rocker would thin it out a bit. Has it been in the water yet?
