Re: Bonzer 5 Fin Proposal
Well, there are Bonzers, and then there are "Bonzers". Eaton's boards are his measured take on the design and differ from the Campbell Bros. boards in fairly significant ways..noticably on the depth of concaves, and the size, flex, and template of the center fin and runners. I've never ridde...

hey U.Grumpy,
nice work!
I did see your description on the template..but thought there might be a bit more to it than just generally referencing inspiration from 3 different shaper/designers.

Re: Flexible Hulls- plastic sheet and mesh
Wowza! this is pretty amazing stuff. the craftsmanship is evident, as well as the commitment to going beyond many design boundaries. wondering what has happened in the surf? how has what you have come up with matched up with your expectations of what it might be? as a "what if", if you too...

Re: New handplane, first alaia, paipo mods
really nice looking work and surfcraft!
wondering about the handle.. is it a solid piece or "modular"?
also, how was it attached to the deck?
currently using handle's on my paipo boards and they work really well.
Mahalo!

Sound's great!
And then, after that.. maybe see you and your surf craft of choice at the Paipopalooza in San Simeon August 3-5th.
Nothing to sell, no "events' per se..just you, your board, hopefully a few waves to ride, and an open mind.
See ya' there!

Hey there..
H2o should be in the upper 50's, with air temps 10+ degrees higher.
A 4/3 suit will certainly do the trick..lighter is fine too particularly with booties and a hood.
Hope to see a pile of paipo's in early August..would love to see the different design approaches in action!

Re: Paipo Gathering in Big Sur
Official name is Hearst San Simeon State Park..805 927 2020. Or google Calif' State Parks and check it out..it is a great place w/2 different camping area's, lots of trails and just on the other side of HWY 1.Easy walk to the beach along San Simeon creek..good surf in front upon occasion, but plenty...

Re: Paipo Gathering in Big Sur
I could probably make the long journey..another alternative is San Simeon campground 45 minutes south of Plaskett. It offers both tent and "primitive " sites, and for those who prefer more civilized accomodations, both San Simeon and Cambria offer hotels, motels, and B&B's that range fro...

Re: Spring is here
Cornish..my Theisz paipo has the handle glassed on (it's very faint, but you can make out the glass layer on the perimeter of the handle). The handles on the 2 new Bonzer paipo's are not glassed on..simply 'glued' on with a resin/foam mix at sanding coat stage, then glossed over with the rest of the...

Re: Spring is here
yes Uncle G, you are correct sir. I spoke w/Mr. Myers yesterday..he bought the board from another collector 10 years ago and basically knows nothing about it , or Gordon Theisz. He suspects it might be a 70's vintage based on the blank type and stringer, which is possible, but I kind of doubt it. I ...

Re: Spring is here
hey Bob and Rod, I'm phone tagging with the seller about this board, I've got a few questions about it and have contacted some others who may know as well. This is in many ways a significant departure from Gordon's typical Froiseth inspired paipo as seen through the years..I strongly suspect a Bonze...

Buzzy Kneubuhl
Hi Friends, I'm saddened to let you know that Buzzy Kneubuhl has passed away..he was doing one of the many favorite things he loved to do in the ocean..riding the "down winders" from Hookipa to Kahalui Harbor on Maui last Wednesday in his one man canoe (along with another canoe'r), ran int...

Re: SACRED CRAFT
Greetings! See you at the Sacred Craft-Fest'. I'll have 2 paipo's ,shaped by Malcolm Campbell, in the Campbell Bros.Bonzer display, which is itself part of the Moonlight Glassing exhibit. One is a 5'0" five fin Bonzer, the other a 4'6" regular 3 fin Bonzer. I'm also bringing the Froiseth/T...
