Re: Do swim fins generate drag significantly ?
My theory is that maybe I had reached the minimal planing speed for the board, but not for the fins somewhat. The other day I was out on my G5 in barely 3ft surf. It was a very clean, dawn patrol session, and I was out because I was eager to try my new Duck Feet fins. There are times when I'm movin...

Re: TBG5
Rod - After last minute discussion with customer, 3 went to Laguna, CA and 2 went to Oldsmar, FL
Krusher - It's what I recommend for hard surface boards with hard fins.

Re: TBG5
Here are five G5s that are headed to Florida. This photo shows the scalability of the G5 design. Intended riders range in height from 6'2" to 5'6", and in weight from 230lb to 140lbs. Lengths are 52", 50", 46" and 45".

Re: Hot Curl Prone Board
I hoping it will be more of an enhanced bodysurfing experience, finding bliss in the pocket of that hot curl, as opposed to a cut and slash shred-session. Definitely a pointbreak shape...and I just happen to have one close by.

Re: Hot Curl Prone Board
I read that, too, but I'm not buying the "transformation from displacement to planing hull" either, because other than splitting the tail, the design of the hull remains the same, with belly and up-rails throughout. Flatten the bottom rail-to-rail and change the rail shape to a more 60/40 ...

Re: Hot Curl Prone Board
My research has uncovered some "Dual Hot Curl" shapes, which is essentially a finless twin V-tail shape. May be more applicable to a prone board...trying not to get distracted

Re: Hot Curl Prone Board
I'll need to do a "proof of concept" first...but I have five G5s to get shipped to Florida first. Oh, and there will need to be some waves to ride, too...where are the waves?

Re: Hot Curl Prone Board
Here's the tail-view of the Quam/Martin design that inspired it hotcurl.jpeg ..., so not quite as deep as the 8’0 x 15 1/2 x 21 7/8 x 16 1/2 x 2 7/8 original, but at 3" pretty deep by prone board standards. I found that it was virtually impossible to go deeper without putting a major kink in th...

Hot Curl Prone Board
Shaper’s tend to be very visually-oriented individuals. We prefer to “see” something rather than read about it; we would rather look at a map than follow written directions. We are quick to see spatial relationships and have good visual memory. When Jeff Quam presented his Hot Curl board as part of ...

Day Use Parking is only allowed until sunset...after that, parking available in the The Extra Vehicle parking lot. located at the end of the main park road near the Del Mar RV camping area. With Pes bringing brats, I'm going to bring some hot dogs and buns, a squeeze bottle of catsup & mustard, ...

Sat afternoon thru Sun afternoon. Will stay longer if there's any surf, but not optimistic. How many vehicles allowed per camp site? Can you park overnight in the day use area?

Re: T-Belly G6
Managed to get in a nice session at Moonstone Beach in Cambria, CA this past Sat. Not as big as I'd hoped, but a fun 4-5ft. Nice little reef break with a solid left and an A-frame peak just a little north of that. I've gotten into the habit of making really late take-offs by just stretching out with...
