Re: Bonzer 5 Fin Proposal

My mistake...I thought they were trying to go all the way down to 43", but it's really 4'3". It does make me wonder though. How small can you make a bonzer? A cubit bonzer?

Re: Bonzer 5 Fin Proposal

So the Eaton in the photo is a kneeboard...right? And perhaps with more nose kick than a lot of us would want. Squishing it down to a 43" length is an interesting problem. Do you scale down the length of the bonzer pockets? Scale down the fins, too? Or do you take the length out of the nose...m...

This is a blog interview that Mr. Mike and I were involved in. Nothing new for most of you regulars. What is a little different is that we chose to do the interview with an activist blog, rather than the usual surfing choirs that we preach to.

Big Wednesday August 8th

I held this back a bit, because I didn't want to steal any thunder from the San Simeon trip. Next Wednesday at San Onofre:

Anybody with a VW want to ditch work and other obligations on Wednesday? So far I heard only Soulglider as a maybe...in a Manx.

Re: paint on wax

So I take it that you don't want to scrape it off, or lend the board to a guy with a really hairy chest? Back in the really old days, we'd dewax our boards at the beach. We'd sprinkle a thin layer of sand on the deck, and wait for it to get hot. Then rub off the mess with our fingers. Then throw all...

Re: paipo fest

I'd like to know more about this cubit board. This was the only double-wide handboard I saw...besides mine. I looked at it later, and it had tailblocks on either side of the crescent. Anybody have a better photograph?

Some pictures on the Paipo Society website today. They appear to be left in the order that they were taken. It's hard to judge the size of the crowd based on photos of the beach, because there was always a crowd of folks in the water.

Rod, what triggers the scrolling box for photos? I've seen photos 600 pixels tall that don't have the box, and much shorter photos that do have the scrolling box.

Re: paipo fest

This was a really fun paipo and handboard gathering. About an even mix of men and women, and several children. Mike, you left too early. You missed out on the free food (pita sandwiches) and the free raffle. There were some glass and foam boards there. Mr. Surffoils would have liked this assymetric ...

I mentioned this in another thread, but worth metioning again for those that missed it. The Surf Coaster is a 100 year old design...a mix of rigid frame and flexible skin. http://www.google.com/patents/US1023601 ... &q&f=false

As I recall...North of the pier is an "open" zone during the Summer. So we won't be invading a stand-up zone, but we'll be sharing waves with them. Be sure to give the serious bodysurfers some breathing room. Some of them might be regulars that really enjoy their Summer "open" zo...

Re: paipo fest

Hey, Mike...since you made the first post on this thread, then you can go back and edit the title of the thread. Maybe change it to, "Paipo Stokefest at La Jolla." You could also get rid of that graphic that says Torrey Pines. Be advised that I'm only bringing donuts for the Horrys. If you...

Mostly wood boards at Torrey Pines, and a possible showdown between the Verts and the Horrys (timber vs. plywood riders, vertically laminated vs. horizontally laminated.) Maybe even some Kookboxers...or (gasp) hot rod people riding car creepers with the wheels still attached. Sounds like fun.

Re: UK bellyboarding history

On the old forum, Brooky posts about his Surfrider. Similar measurements, his 42.5 inches long. Not sure if he lost any length on the tail during his restoration of the board. Well, anyway...some of those boards seem to come in a kid sizes...shorter than 48 inches. http://rodndtube.com/paipo/forum/v...

Re: Help...1/4 in. Marine ply, need a plan!

I only tried it once, and it failed for two reasons. I didn't have enough enough weight for the water-based glue...I was using rocks and large plastic tubs full of water. I was also trying to glue them in a rockered position. So the glue was an uneven thickness. I might have gotten away with it if I...
