Spud, did you grab that at Ventura Surf Shop? I called them and they said it pulled paint off a door when they tried to remove it.

That would be the one! My board has no paint so it was not a concern. I wanted something that would not come off.

Yea, I believe sticking it to a board with layers on varnish on the surface would be ok too. Ill give that one a try.

Surfed my new Malama Kai for the first time today. The waves were 2-3' and somewhat soft but it held in nicely on the occasional steep face. Can't wait to ride it in some better surf.

I had Tom make me a paipo. It is probably wider and a bit longer than many of his paipo. The bottom is fairly flat, with bit of a roll to the rail. Many of the heavily concaved boards may be alaia also ridden standing up.

The thinner the board, the more flex. I tried one of Tom's really thin boards that just had way too much flex for me. I found the bigger the wave, the more noticeable was the flex. A number of guys on this forum ride fairly flat bottomed boards. Keep it simple.

I found for me 3/8" ply to be too thin. Too much flex on bigger waves or waves with any power. I found 1/2" to be right for me. I have not tried 3/4" yet. I wonder how that would work? Hmmmm how could I find out???.........
