Let's see what people are riding or ridden. What's in your paipo quiver?
I will start off. Missing from pic is a round tail boss shaped paipo.
From Left to Right: (1) Paipo Nui small, (2) Hess peanut shark, (3) HPD V1 flex tail small, (4) HPD V2 all around flex small, (5) Wegener triple concave, and (6) Stan Osserman paipo. Stan's paipo has been the best so far as overall from waist high to OH. Fast and she turns! Tried a Akisada paipo and that was fast and fun too.

Re: Paipo quiver shots
Great collection Airboy! Good to see people keeping the Hawai'i style paipo traditions alive. How does that big board ride? Looks like it has to be around 32"+ wide seeing that HPD's are 30". How does the board on the far right ride prone?
Here's a pic of most of my boards. All shaped by me and ridden regularly except for the 5'4" alaia looking board, which needs some rail repair and better sealing.

Re: Paipo quiver shots
Photos taken today of boards acquired since the previous photo. There have been some other boards but I don't have them anymore.
Starting at the top (the second photo is the same boards but taken from the opposite direction):
1. Finless cork decked board by Huie
2. Bonzer by Malcolm Campbell
3. Jeff Quam designed board
4. Number 5 based on Larry Goddard design
5. John Galera NoFin. This one is flatter than John's usual boards and a little shorter.
each board has it's merits but it was #4 I took away on a trip recently and is the board I now surf the most

Re: Paipo quiver shots
Bob, great looking boards! especially, 2. Bonzer by Malcolm Campbell
3. Jeff Quam designed board
4. Number 5 based on Larry Goddard design
the larry goddard design is the one board on this site that inspired my boards, especially the rocker on red one in his article. i took his board and added belly to them and have screwed around with wide points and rails. how long, thick and wide are these three i listed? i'm finding out for me and my size that 4'3-4'6"x19.5-21 and under 2" is best for float, maneuverability and speed. longer is faster but out of my comfort zone for float, duck diving etc and just feels too dang cumbersome. thanx

Re: Paipo quiver shots
SG,
Thanks. The overall dimensions are all fairly similar:
1. I asked Malcolm Campbell to replicate one of Robert Moynier's boards: 4'6" x 21.5 x 1.5 -1.7"
2. The board by Jeff Quam was shaped by Josh Martin - 4'5" x 21 x 1.75" It's an epoxy board and super light.
3. The Larry Goddard board (#4 in a series not #5) is 4'5" x 21.25 x 1.88". In a board bag it's 4.7kg
However the boards are really different in thickness distribution, rail and bottom; and consequently surf really differently.
