Rod, the board I looked at was pretty stiff-it had some kind of carbon mesh imbedded in it as well as stringers.
My comment about adding fins was only speculation—I did not buy this board...I was just curious about it.

Re: Bodyboards discuss (the soft paipo)
Hey Rod, I am in the central California coast on a vacation and stopped by the Toobs factory to get Some answers to your questions. I took some photos also. The board is 22.5 at it widest point and tapers to 21.75 at the tail. You can see the rails in the attached photo. It also has a real nose rock...

Re: Bodyboards discuss (the soft paipo)
Hi Asier-Regarding those soft boards you just posted about- I have the Rocket 50( 4 ft 2 inch). I use it as a paipo and Have a lot of fun with it. It catches waves easily and is fast. I removed the keel fins that came with it and replaced Them with small fins which are stiffer. But I am no expert or...

Re: Things prone in general
The rocket 50 I spoke about above seems pretty sturdy. I dont think it would permanently dent from gripping or hitting a rock. It is stiff and light. It is a little floaty but I have fun with it in mushy, junky waves. It seems pretty quick too. I have noticed some cosmetic loss of paint on the nose ...

Re: Things prone in general
Hey Pes..I have a softech rocket 50 that works well as a bodyboard for me. As the name implies, it is 50 inches long. It is a little too short towork as a knee board for me—(I am 6 ft, 180 lbs)., but I have heard of others that have used it as a knee board. They make a bigger board that I have been ...

Re: What are you riding at the moment?
The t-belly on the left is my best board, but it is a little too short for me
If the waves are mushy. When I need a little more float for mushy, slow waves,
I have fun on the red 50 inch softech...surprisingly fast and catches waves easily.
But all of them have their charms—

Re: New Mega Platter
Hey JBW, after re-reading your initial post, I see that you already answered most of my questions, so I guess my question is do the benefits outweigh the difficulty of paddling out thru a beach break?. I can see a point break with a clear channel would be no problem but that is not the normal enviro...

Re: New Mega Platter
Hey JBW, board looks good. I am curious about the longer length and its benefits. I live in Pacifica and most of our surfable waves are frequently mushy with sections. I have a 45 " tb3 which I really like but I frequently find myself caught up in the whitewater and unable to drive thru it even thou...

simmons type stand up for belly riding?
A general question to the forum-I see a lot of very short simmons type shapes for sale on craigslist etc. some of them are 5 feet or even a few inches under in length. also generally pretty wide with a pretty parallel rails and low rocker-has anyone here tried one of these as a prone board? Just cur...

Re: Swim Fins with Booties
I have had the same issue with rapidly wearing fin socks and finally found these that work for me. Decent sole-thin but strong and pretty easy to get
the fins off and on. Good protection when rock dancing and comfortable when kicking.
