Re: orca fins? other symmetrical fins

Been using Hydro Tech 2s for several years. I've tried so many, I can't remember them all. I have wide feet and most just don't fit. I currently have a pair of Da Fin as well, but the HydroTech 2s fit the best with reasonable power. I haven't lost one, but, I do own two pair, just in case!

Re: TP Displacement Hull Board

Without a doubt this board is a beautiful piece of work that does what it's intended to do. I've told Thomas since the fist out it's a viable product. Like every board, it has it's quirks, but really suits my desires.

Re: TP Displacement Hull Board

The ride description is accurate. That's exactly why I wanted to do the project and got more than expected.

TP Displacement Hull Board

Thomas has mentioned his hull board, once that I've seen on this forum. I'm the guy who wanted a displacement hull board and I felt Thomas was the guy to do it. I think Thomas has done four boards for me and I believe his understanding of surfboard design, theory, and function is extensive. I also t...

Re: Finless T-Belly

I would not say this design is without merit. It is decent and has really cool rail design. Frankly, design is a learning platform for the next build. I think Thomas did a great job for a one off. If you get to CA and want to give the board a ride, even though I'm in Oregon, I'll try to arrange it.

Re: Finless T-Belly

Feel it on the legs where the board ends. Having spent the last almost 50 years of life in the racing industry, I, in my mind called it turbulence and attributed it to the fast moving water under the board, accelerated by the channels hitting a low pressure area behind the board creating a swirling ...

Re: Finless T-Belly

OK, I'll chime in. I have the sister FX. I think Thomas built his because I was talking to him about doing a finless board. Some background I'm a old guy who had to give up stand up because of loss of function after two knee replacements. I sold everything and was about to shoot myself when I discov...

Re: Variations...continued

I've been out on the hull board several times now. To say I like it would be an understatement, but like every other board, it isn't perfect. Had it out yesterday in some well overhead, powerful for our area waves. It was amazing. The character of the board is to go down the face, bottom turn and co...

Central California Coast

I am from Southern Oregon and am making a quick trip to the Morro Bay - Cayucos area this coming weekend. I'm going to visit a family friend but hoping to get some surf time in as well. I've surfed around the rock, Cayucos, and around San Simeon. Being there on a weekend I'm hoping a local might be ...

Re: T-Belly Gen 4x

I've worked with carbon fiber products for years in racing. It's tough, it's stiff, it's light, and it's pretty affordable. For years, I "didn't like" EPS epoxy stand up boards, too corky. My last stand up was a PU epoxy and I loved it. I still have an EPS epoxy long board for those small ...

Re: Finned Xylem Paipo

I've really enjoyed this thread. I have a finless Xylem 52" long 1 1/2 thick at the wide point, a more conventional concave, two channel board, 48' long 20" at it's widest and 3/4 thick at it's thickest, a T Belly G2, and surf mat. Just finished two, very thin scrap wood paipos 1/2 thick a...

Re: T-Belly Gen 4x

Nice board Thomas. I've really enjoyed the G2 I have, but I think the changes you've made are all good. I think you're right on about the length. I also like the channels. Let me know when you're ready to sell it. I know I out weigh you 30 lbs, but after riding wood paipos, buoyancy is relative.

Re: T-Belly Generation 2

OK, I've had the Gen 2 since May, I think. It came when conditions here, Crescent City, CA, basically took a dump. I did comment after my first ride, but really didn't have good enough surf to "use" the board. My reference is wood paipos of which I have two way different design. I used tho...

Re: T-Belly Generation 2

The attitude of my way is the way is silly. It took legs that wouldn't function to get me to prone riding, starting with a wood paipo. I now have two. Have ridden a couple of conventional body boards, have a surf mat, and a T-Belly Gen 2. All worthy rides. All different, but great fun in their own w...

Re: Swim fins/flippers

I've been using DMC Tech 2 fins for a couple of years. I have bad knees, so I need fins that don't load them, but still have power. These do. I've had people try them then buy them a couple of times. Started using them on knee boards and now paipos. They are silicone construction and very comfortabl...

Re: T-Belly Generation 2

Part of the fun for me is the characteristics of different surf craft. Honestly that was the motivation for looking at the foam - fiberglass paipo. I was the same way on stand up boards as well, always a garage full. Since prone riding is what I got, I've looked at a couple different variants of woo...

Re: T-Belly Generation 2

I believe I've purchased the first Gen 2 from Thomas. I'm from a stand up background, but with age, my knees deteriorated to the point of replacement. That resulted in loss of flexibility and effective pop up. I was on the verge of no surfing until I tried a wood finless paipo The thrill was back! S...
