Bgreen-- Silicone jell serves as a nutrient to rubber and a natural "softener"
LIGHT heat serves to allow the rubber to mold/stretch a bit while silicone "nutrients" help soften and mold the rubber shoes
As far as gravity-- I don't quite understand what you mean by that

Re: Getting Churchill fins to fit
hi bgreen I just read your trailer I work in the rubber industry When I have problems fitting my fins I do the following 1) Buy a tube of silicone jell -- from a dive shop (they use it to keep "O" Rings soft and from drying out) 2) Buy tennis balls and stuff two per each fin inside the sho...

Re: TBG5
Thanks Thomas for your elaborate explanation. This helps us common folks understand better the complications of building, shaping, glassing boards I started researching UK shapers and found one out of Jersey on which I am taking a gamble on my next two boards He is using a new foam (not PU nor EPS) ...

Re: Nose thickness
Thomas one of my best board noses amongst the boards you built for me was on the Kevlar Carbon board I noticed the nose is thinner while you kept the foam volume more in the area under the main body trunk The thinner nose allows me for a much better and easier duck dive. Gripping the board in this a...

Re: TBG5
"(so as not to scare off the new CNC machinist and the new glasser)" Thomas I am still puzzled by the "Glassers/laminating" world and now you through a new curve ball to me when you mention that CNC machinist are basically fussy and can create problems when dealing with a shapers...

Re: yucca fins
Yes Geoffrey you are right I just went by what I read here above on your statement So let me be more specific -- as long as the "scraps" recycled are all from the same rubber compound then everything is fine However if the Rubber compounds used to achieve different flex on the fin product ...

Re: yucca fins
Don't know if I am understanding the above Geoffrey message correctly But if they are made from recycled rubber materials please beware that recycling rubber material is NOT recommended as the rubber compounds all differ from each other and they chemically can not bond perfectly Therefore, over time...

Re: End of an Era
Thanks Rodndtube for your solidarity Thomas I just hope you have a chance to hook up with another laminator You know I would like to commission you two more MPH boards-- but we are stuck in an "impasse" -- until hopefully you find an Epoxy laminator lab where to take your boards Good luck ...

Re: End of an Era
Thomas so sorry about the above news The frustration extends out to us clients as well It takes years to find a good shaper and then we get this kind of disappointing news and the uncertainty that the future might bring I heard that during the covid shut down the government sent checks out to famili...

I premer leg leashes and buy the 5' COMPETITION extra thin one
Never really experienced tangling as I am tall 6'2" and my long legs probably keep the leash stretched enough to avoid wrapping around
