Re: Rail shapes for finless hold.

Paipo2.JPG Paipo1.JPG Great timing on this post as I am in the middle of a build using 1/2" marine plywood. The board is 50" long, has a cornered-off nose width of 14" (was 18" before I chopped the nose), a tail width of 24" and a wide point of 28" (12" from the t...

Re: Board outline, with and without fins

Was watching a Greg Daniels video on youtube; he takes water shots/video at various spots on Oahu. Mostly shorebreak. The following link is a video of a fun day at Makapu'u: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQfv0x-4nqU There are a couple of underwater shots of body boards going down the line that giv...

Re: Papa Paepo o & duckdiving

When I'm padding out through constant whitewater, I'll keep the board submerged so I don't have to use too much effort to duckdive and I dont have to angle the board too steep to get under the wave and risk bottoming out (if shallow). I'm riding an HPD board, so I cant speak to boards with more volu...

Have not done this in BIG waves but you can sure stay in the wave longer, to the bitter end, and still get out clean. Most of the time.

Just be mindful of the bottom! :o :o :o
Oh yeah, the bottom: It could turn you from a submarine to a dredge :D

Hawaiian Pull-Out

Aloha MPB Forum. First post, but been lurking on the website for a while... In the Paipo Interview with Rainer Stegemann, he talks about the "Hawaiian pull-out" where your pearl the nose of the paipo and pull yourself out of the back of the wave. I did this by accident a few times and real...
