Re: Bodypo SoCal Demo Days - May 21 & 22
Any chance of a Norcal Demo day with that blade style board? Yes, there's a bodysurfing meetup group here in San Francisco that meets every month. I'll always have boards there, including the Blade. Here's info: https://www.facebook.com/groups/bayareabodysurfing/ The next meetup is June 4th at Ocea...

Re: Bodypo SoCal Demo Days - May 21 & 22
That's the top down approach that FireWire and others are attempting. I don't see it working out for me, so I'm focusing on bottom up. Every day riders on the Bodypo. One of the ways I'm doing that is organizing a "Bounty Hunt" competition this summer. Any Bodypo rider (read: my customers ...

Re: Bodypo SoCal Demo Days - May 21 & 22
Getting in Outside or Men's Journal would be so baller. I reached out to both of them over the winter, but I didn't really put in the hustle that I'd need to get in front of them. For awhile there I really had only the most tenuous grip on production and supply chain problems, so getting in a magazi...

Re: Bodypo SoCal Demo Days - May 21 & 22
Agreed. The photog told me that Jesse "made it" on this wave, but man, I can't imagine what success would look like in this scenario.

Re: Bodypo SoCal Demo Days - May 21 & 22
Yeah, that was the editor at Riptide Magazine, Michael. He's been riding the Bodypo for like 7 months now. He said he'd write a review, and I bugged him about it for a long time. He said he liked the board, but he never wrote or published anything. I think I can characterize the vibe I get from the ...

Bodypo SoCal Demo Days - May 21 & 22
I want to let you all know that I'll be in SoCal next weekend for some demo days with the Bodypo. May 21 — Huntington Beach at 9th Street There's a BIA bodyboarding competition happening here, and I'll be there with a stack of new Bodypo to try. The event organizers say it's cool to try the boards d...

Super fun day at the workshop with Poobah and the other guys. Here's a photo of everyone with their boards. Check out Poobah and his fish tail! The next Bodypo shaping class is on 3/19 at the California Surfcraft workshop in San Rafael, CA. Register here: http://californiasurfcraft.com/products/body...

Wow, that's amazing. The more I look at the photo the more details I see. Just beautiful.
Did you seal it with glass? Just the outside, or inside too?

Re: Cork Shaping Class on Sunday January 24th
Yes, it's going well. There was a time this last summer that I felt hopelessly behind on orders. At least 30 orders behind at one point, and making maybe 4 a week. A few people had to wait over 2 months to get a board. That was not good. I guess what I've learned is that it's not enough to invent a ...

Re: Cork Shaping Class on Sunday January 24th
No special sandwich, not even a special shape. Matt (dk) is riding a stock 42" crescent tail Bodypo there. It's the same board in both photos. There's a little rocker through the nose of these boards. Not much, but enough that it'd be hard to ride them upside down. The blanks come off the mold ...

Re: Cork Shaping Class on Sunday January 24th
Oh, and I'm happy to say that I'm caught up on my backlog. I've been able to increase my production from 2-3 blanks a week to 20-30 blanks a week over the last 6 months. The wait time on blanks & boards has gone from 6 weeks down to 1-2 weeks.

Re: Cork Shaping Class on Sunday January 24th
I can get in on this. The joint wouldn't be a problem, and it wouldn't stiffen the board the way you might think. We used to have to join two sheets together on the Bodypo 1.0 design, as the sheets only came in 39" lengths at that time and we'd have to extend them to 44". Joining is easy —...

Re: Cork and bamboo paipo
Yeah, come up to San Francisco and lets test some boards! I like your comment about the round nose. There's another corker who shaped his Bodypo from a blank with a round nose and an asymmetrical tail. I haven't ridden it, he's down in SoCal, but it looks like a fun board. 12106841_10208258322039911...

Re: Cork and bamboo paipo
Honestly, I liked this board - especially how it looks - but I find the ride a little uninspiring. It was very fast, but I prefer the Bodypo. The paipo outran the Bodypo on one wave, but I think it was more Trev's skills than the board. Trev could outrun me on a dinner plate. I'd like to try another...

Re: Cork and bamboo paipo
Trevor, Does this mean the bamboo board is way faster than the Bodypo, you're just a speedy guy or did the inside had a better launching pad? Bob I'll say this...when Trev say "caught up to Dave", what he really means is "flew past Dave". We split the peak and he went the opposi...

Re: Cork and bamboo paipo
Cork & fiberglass can flex, but not the way I made it here. It all depends on where and how much fiberglass you add, and how thick the cork is. This board was made to be very stiff.

Re: Cork and bamboo paipo
Yes, all fiberglass is internal with polyurethane on the outside. The sandwich is bamboo-glass-cork-glass-bamboo. Vacuum bagged over a mold to get the bend in the front. Speaking of — what's everyone's thoughts on rocker for paipo? I know wood doesn't lend itself very well to rocker, but this kind o...

Re: Cork and bamboo paipo
No, not a Bodypo — I wanted to make a legit paipo using some of the construction techniques I use on the Bodypo. I took this board out last night, and man, whenever I get on a real paipo I'm reminded how much the Bodypo is not a paipo. This is a fun board, but I missed the response (and cork deck) o...
