This is a CAD figure for the 48” Channel-Tail model. Channel size is the same in the 42” model ridden in the video previously linked and the photo above — board planshape is similar. Lindsay Lord Hybrid

My most recent builds/experiments create a rectangular planing surface for the bottom (parallel edges). Bottom chamfers allow me to use traditional curved rail outline templates.
The rectangular shape uses an Aspect Ratio in the Lindsay Lord 0.4 range.
I call them Lindsay Lord Hybrids.

I think the hydro turf you are talking about is super thin? The Hydro Turf brushed/flat EVA surf mat sheet is between 3/16” to 1/4” thick. Important tip for XLPE boards. Don't lean them up against something in direct sun. The side that heats up warps toward the cool/shaded side. I may have found an event where I can test my boards in consistent wave conditions -- Waco, TX; 10/3-10/4, 2022.
(Need to quickly build a channel-bottom TR-42 and a NACA-rail, wing-tail 47.5" to bring along also.)
