Re: yucca fins
Its been a couple of years since this thread was started...any new reviews of the Yucca Standard Flex? DuckFeet have been my goto fins for nearly 40yr, due to their stiffness and resulting thrust. But, there has always been a certain amount of pain that goes with wearing them. Primarily that has be...

Re: Bellyboard (Kickboard) Swim Pool Workout
I had a friend who uses(-d) a bellyboard/kickboard at his exercise pool. Although fresh water is less buoyant it should still be a workout. Makes sense to lay on or to hold the board in the same position as out in the ocean to replicate as closely as possible your ocean motion. How do you like your ...

Re: River Surfing Paipos & Bellyboards
They started paipo surfing a river to the north of you, in Montana. But nothing super serious like the folks in Colorado.

Lord was commissioned by the Navy to research large boat/small ship designs for interdicting smuggling aka in the "cigarette boat" to PT or PC (patrol coastal) size category. The Coast Guard and Navy needed boats/ships that could patrol large areas of the Caribbean (and similar littoral wa...

Re: Lindsay Lord Hybrid
Yes, very nice wave but a little bumpy at times. I usually let my mates catch the first one or two of the waves in the set pass through so my wave would be smoother ;) But hitting one of those cross chops could have me airborne for 10 yards. The wind rushing up the wave meant keeping a very low prof...

Re: Lindsay Lord Hybrid
Nomas, Lord did mention testing that sled in various surface conditions and how the aspect ratio could affect the planning characteristics. He also addressed to some degree a V-hull in the forward nose area of the plank. That V-hull is something I speculated about in a post a long, long time ago on ...

Yes, that is correct, 19.2 inches. But, I wouldn't get too bent out of shape going up to 19.5 inches or down to 19.0 inches... but, going to 22 inches or down to 16 inches begin to reveal changes in the pure science of it. Most likely one will introduce curve into the form and maybe some level of ro...

Re: new pad?
You might be able to dig up some thin sheet polyethylene at an area foam supply store. Some of the dense closed cell might take to wax better than the thinner cell. If not a foam supply store a lot of packing companies carry the stuff.

eBodyboarding Kevlar Fin Socks
eBodyboarding has a new fin socks offering made with kevlar weave soles it appears, in 3mm and 5mm thicknesses. I have not personally tried them but believe we would all be interested in learning how they fit, how rugged the soles stand up to walking across a variety of surfaces and mostly about hol...

PHP now updated to 8.1x. Looks like everything is running smoothly. My son taking off at Steps on his bodyboard a long time ago. We were there about ten minutes before paddling out to Tres Palmas on a nice 8-12 ft day with nobody else out. Maria's was packed. Steps-AlexTakingOff.jpg Paddling back ou...

Surreal Paipo Surfing in a Bathtub
Yes, nothing but a joke test after installation of forum s/w update. I did surf at this break one time--by accident--from shore it appeared to only be 6-8 ft, breaking waaaaaa out there. It was a solid 18-20 ft, and a cloud set must have come through at 20-25 ft because it broke in the channel as we...

Re: Dorsal Swim Fins
NRS carries a good, strong sole, 2mm. The sole is made of a composite weave so it is good for walking over parking lots, gravel, shells, etc. It isn't a solid stiff sole. I started using them a couple of years ago for the "walks" and they fit nicely into swim fins and don't wear out like n...
