I'm heading down to Victoria for 10 days, east and west coasts.
Let me know if you wanted to catch up for a surf.

Facebook page
Gday, I'd noticed a few bellyboard/paipo related posts in kneeboard and vintage surfboard collector sites, so thought why not a BB page (there are a couple of traditional UK BB pages). Rod had a Facebook page that was gathering dust, so I suggested an update and have posted some stuff there. If you'...

Re: Monolith 2001: XLPE
The shape itself looks like a standard bodyboard.
Is it going to have the channel like your earlier photos?

Re: Bob's Paipo
I had about 10 days surfing to test the board. It went way better than I thought it would: catches waves easily, handles a steep drop, holds an edge in the barrel and turns well. One thing I was less sure about was that it didn't seem to plane as well as my other boards. However, when I rode a wave ...

Thanks Harry.
The board looks like it is levitating in the bottom photo, ready to blast off.

Re: Bob's Paipo
Thanks Harry.
Looks like the board will fall apart before the plug comes out. My plugs usually are 90 degrees to the stringer, so it will be interesting to see if this direction works better. The more important experimental part is the tail. Lots to ponder over on this one.

Thanks Harry.
Looking good. The board will put me to shame. I can walk down to the surf, no-one will pay me attention, they'll be stunned by the glass job.
Looking forward to what 2022 brings.
Thanks again.

Re: Bob's Paipo
Thanks Harry for both the thread and the offer of glassing. Not so sure about the famous bit. Ok, the back story. I was walking to my car after a surf and see a guy with a broken longboard. He was trying to break the fins out. He asked if I wanted the tail half, I declined, as I didn't think my wife...

Re: Basics.
Gday, I'm no expert but don't apply a second/third coat etc until the coat you applied is completely dry. It shouldn't be tacky. Unlike applying by hand or cloth, you can't smooth out overspray so don't go heavy with spray, just nice even coats. A non-fibrecloth can be used to deal with pool. You ar...

Mike Stewart - Shipstern. Lots of interesting finless technique on show
I found this video interesting on a number of counts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woTKncdIAtU
Look at his legs - at time only one or neither are in contact with the board, but they are in contact with the wave face.

Tom Morey sign on the Big Island
I read a sign had been installed on the BIg Island commemorating Tom Morey and the boogie board, one side, on the other information about paipo boards. This link depicts the sign at Honis Beach Park: https://kauainownews.com/2021/11/06/wave-riders-pay-tribute-to-tom-morey-creator-of-the-modern-day-b...
