Re: Things prone in general

I started surfing late in life I think at 28 or so. Did the stand up thing because that's what I thought surfing was or is. Kneeboarded for a couple years and I was looking for something else to do when it was big at some of the spots I would go to. So I bought a handplane for bigger days and to get...

Re: Can't help myself

So the bottom was a bit messed up yesterday and I attempted to flatten it out today. Didn't feel like chasing things so it's a bit of belly with some double through the fins. Fins are set 4" off the tail and 2" off rail. Toed in .25" with 5 degrees cant. Redid the nose by cutting down the length 2".

Re: Can't help myself

Here's what we got going today. Need to rework the outline a bit because there are a couple issues in the nose and tail that I want to fix. Dims are right now 4' x 22" thickness about 1.5". Slight concave deck bottom is flat and I'll be having bonzer 3 fin side fins glassed on. Will update final dim...

Re: 4'10

I'll be putting a cove pad on it so I'd be pretty locked in. The Greenough thing is what I'm kinda going for. I would like to get some footage if me surfing it at some point. Thickness is 1.5" in the center, the concave deck is .75" and the bottom has .25" single before it goes into the double throu...

Re: 4'10

Running it as a quad but wouldn't be opposed to going finless. Getting a set of the Lovelace Piggyback quads.

Have a board in the works being shaped by Tony Caramagna of TC Surfboards. Tony grew up in the Point Loma and Sunset Cliffs area here in San Diego and has made kneeboards before. He is very easy to work with and I feel I was able to tell him what I have trying to do in my shaping. He was very open t...

Re: Paipo Gathering - Oct 8-10, 2017

Had a good time up North at this years gathering. The catered meals each night was top notch thanks Rod! Now if you could only start work on removing the Channel Islands that would be great. Waves didn't cooperate with us as much as we wanted but what can you do. I think Kage had the wave of the gat...

Re: Can't help myself

Here's what I came up with today, I shaped the board in my head for two weeks while waiting for the blank and this isn't what was in my mind. Dims are 4'6" 22.75 1.75" belly in the nose to flat to single through the fins. Slight concave deck with fins set at 4" and 1/8" toe twin fin. I used the mark...

Re: Thought experiment

If you getting the insulation sheets and glassing yourself I assume you can get away with that. The blank I'm getting is a mould but also not a close tolarance blank like you would see from US blanks. I'll admit here that I'll be cheating with the next board by not doing a outline just cutting 6" of...

Re: Thought experiment

Thank you for the inspiration Chrispi. I was going to go with a flat bottom with maybe a little vee in my next board, but you have changed my mind. I need to just go for it on this next board with what I'm going to do. Plan on doing the bottom I did on the finless board I did early this year and rea...

Re: Can't help myself

Ordering a blank tomorrow. Instead of shaping in one day, I'm going to take two weekends to shape the board. Take my time doing it rough out the blank first weekend and finish it up the following weekend.

Re: Can't help myself

I like that feature, now you could actually "see" the blank.
