Jalama Bomma.jpg Guess it was about 6 years ago, i was taking our annual trip with my long time bruddah from anotha muddah, J.P., to a spot north of t.j. and south of san francisco. i had a few beers the night before and thought, i need a new stick! i busted out some 1/2" ply and carved out th...

Re: Cork and bamboo paipo
Ive never put rocker into my boards. I use 1/2" and actively bend it while surfing. i especially like that i can give it reverse rocker while trying to catch a wave. the flex in plywood feels "o soooooo good!"

Re: Cork and bamboo paipo
Ipersonally, I like 19-21" wide. Seems to be the wheelhouse for California waves. The board definitely looks cool both in construction and outline. Nice job.

Re: Cork and bamboo paipo
not sure I follow. Why would 20" wide be considered too wide? i guess if youre surfing in the bellyboard championships in england. but compared to hawaiian style paipos its too skinny. it looks just fine to me, it looks really fun! though it might be too short ;). now i'll play mass media inter...

Re: Mega Platter 2.0...asymmetrical...?
Skiff, we are totally on the same page, my tails are usually a lot wider than this and this one isn't quite as narrow as it seems in the photo. Your art reference is dead on for me, science is a good starting point for a test tank but every wave is totally unique as are all riders. What's perfect fo...

Re: Mega Platter 2.0...asymmetrical...?
Cool stuff! My friends have been riding stand-up/kneeboard hulls for years and have been victimized by my chiding. Then one day I was reading an article about liddles boards and a light came on, the things that made for "lame" riding stand-up/kneeboards could be the very thing to get me de...

Re: Mega Platter 2.0...asymmetrical...?
1024151716a.jpg skiff, thanks for the info. the board in your photo above with your hunk of "chizzled stoke" on it looks like it has some deep displacement type belly in the nose. if im correct is is like the first third of the board into a graduated deep vee? if so, theres your easy to g...

looking good, YO! sand the snot out of the middle of the 3/4" ply kinda like a greeno spoon and youll have the flex you desire. let me see the outline, please o please.

Re: Mega Platter 2.0...asymmetrical...?
Skiff, funny, growing up in santa cruz all my kneeriding/surfing was done on rights and i was a regular foot. actually, kneeriding i had a hard time going left. then i moved down here to san diego in 84 and always struggled because the best spots are lefts, now that i ride exclusively prone i love g...

Re: Mega Platter 2.0...asymmetrical...?
SKIFF, you go! maybe its good, maybe not, ONLY YOU CAN BE THE JUDGE! Like 29" wide. The endeavour sounds fun and intriguing. it makes my heart glad to see someone thinking outside the box and have the willingness to try something else. for example, i like multi-fin boards ok, but i LOVE the was...

i knew i would be confusing but i like S. but some of the others are nice too. especially the hawaiian ones, but S is best. i think.

Re: Rail shapes for finless hold.
S. I choose S! not sure I would for a standup board but for my kneeboards and my paipo/bellyboards its a yes. only, with a bit more pointynessness to it. all of the others are viable for sure but for me S is the one. did i mention, i like S?

Re: Rail shapes for finless hold.
jjj, i have on my plypo's. works good, but i didnt find it works better than just barely rounding off the corners with a light sanding. your rail looks better aesthetically but performance wise...i dont think so. interesting outline, wonder how that will work.
