And a few more... I'm happy to share the dims or how each one rides.
Some are laminated ply, some are Aluminium, some are polypropylene glued together.

Re: My lates Wing board
I did tow behind a small boat and from that I learnt that foiling in the surf is different to river foiling. For me the theory is an all encompassing mind world where there's nothing else that enters my head but shapes and flow and angles. The building is an exercise is how to quickly turn the drawi...

Re: My lates Wing board
Chris, Obvoiusly you're good with your hands so you could build a 'mule' board really easily. Here are a few of mine. One is just flat 7 ply with 2 rubber layers glued on top. I used house paint to waterproof the wood and years later it's falling apart but still rideable. The second one is a standar...

Re: My lates Wing board
Chris, I keep a diary and after each outing on a foil I write down what was good and what was bad about the foil and just my thoughts about why. It's too hard to remember weeks later exactly what happened. I spent a year or two trying to copy the same foil and setups that planes have but lateral foi...

Re: My lates Wing board
Chris, I wanted to go there too in the vertical tube zone at warp speed , that's why I made lots of wide foils trying to tap into that vertical face, but the reality is that you still have to maintain balance and it's not possible to have lift in a tube when the centre of lift is not underneath you....

Re: My lates Wing board
Hi Chris, I tried really wide foils and I found that when you get into steep waves the foil and the lift is so far inside the wave that I had to lean into the wave to stay balanced because the Central of gravity was over the foil. See pic 1
Now I use deeper foils that lift under me. Pic 2

Re: My lates Wing board
Dave, that's a great question !
I've noticed that as Chris builds a new board the fin/foil part gets more defined, more angle, more separated from the body. Chris, will you continue this trend ?
Lots of other questions for you Chris.

Re: My lates Wing board
Hi Chrispi, I would like to hear more about your theory, why did you choose to use twin fins, how did you decide on the angle and the size of fin ?? Did you collaborate with others about the how and why and did you make the boards yourself because they look great ! I chose to make a dual level plani...

Re: My lates Wing board
Hi Chris, I've got a few vids on YouTube... https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCsRj8Gph3zdo9r2sfnacYLg There's more on Vimeo too. http://vimeo.com/user15345598/videos I put a GoPro on a plastic pipe about 6 inches in front of the board. Next time it should be about 3 feet away. How did you decide to mak...

Re: My lates Wing board
Hi Crispi, great board and those wings look amazing, do you have any pics of your other boards ? What sort of ride is it like ? Are you getting completely out of the water ?
And where are you ?
And where are you ?

Re: Thin build, flexible with strength.
Brett, Six months, now that's dedication. Other boards going on - I don't believe it. Bob It's probably easier to say that some people have casual interest in design, some have a mild hobby involving shaping and riding surfcraft, Whilst others have a dedicated perversion that consumes their every t...

Re: Thin build, flexible with strength.
That's the problem... How many layers of glass and veneer will result in a stable construction ?? I want the "wings" to be about 4 mm thick and the body to be a maximum of 8 mm, and that's before I use an XPS deck insert and EVA deck skin. It'll probably take me six months to finish this b...

Re: Thin build, flexible with strength.
Finally got the mold shaped, polished, waxed and all the tiny things that pop up. Heres the mold with the bottom layer of 10 oz... image.jpg And with the first veneer layer in top... image.jpg Tomorrow, hopefully I'll get enough time to wet the resin pop the whole shebang into a vacbag and pull thes...

Re: Thin build, flexible with strength.
More than likely Ive edited the post and forgot what I wrote !
The outrigger one I showed on Sways is the same one I'm doing here.
Anyway, The mold is finished but I need to sand and polish it.

Re: Thin build, flexible with strength.
Bob, yes no. 5 is the one you rode. Rail and paipo no. 1 is a prototype for manufacture back in 2009, but the company went bust. They had a great technique of blowing exact eps cores and then glueing a plastic skin to the deck and hull.they were indestructable but the business owner wasn't. The boar...

Re: Thin build, flexible with strength.
Bob , please bring the foil back when you're next down this way, Ive got other craft I can swap it for ! Ive tried a few different rail shapes... image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg But I like the 1" square rail ( in the very top pic ) as it gives the greatest planing area, resistance thru turns, and...

Re: Thin build, flexible with strength.
Hi Bob, have you tried the hydrofoils ? And how's the swim- mat going ? The wings were an experiment to see how an ultra low volume rail works on a thick foam paipo. My conclusion is that the thinner rail doesn't have any special benefits and it doesn't give the same resistance as a fuller rail. Bec...
