Re: Selling boards

Altho' I have actually sold a couple of the boards I've made to like minded souls, having gone "full on paipo" some time ago, I totally get it. We are The Lunatic Fringe. Something I really can not understand is those who would rather quit riding waves altogether than ride prone...... http...

Re: Fins

Buy your fins big enough to wear a comfy bootie or sock year round and you'll always have that nice soft foot pocket.
My wide feet like the UDT's.
I wear them with a sock or bootie season depending and always with those neoprene strap pads.
Ultra comfort and heaps of power.

Re: simmons type stand up for belly riding?

Coincidentally I saw Jeff Quam yesterday; he stopped by to show off the new chambered balsa bonzerish collaboration board he and Josh had just done together.
I have a picture and will try and post it later.

Re: simmons type stand up for belly riding?

i miss terry. heck of a great guy and shaper. +1 Terry was one of a kind. Tim, Do you know Terry's son Josh? He's very much like his dad and is an excellent shaper carrying on the tradition of Martin Shapes. He shaped a couple of Jeff Quam's boards IIRC. http://www.thesurfboardproject.com/wp-conten...

Re: simmons type stand up for belly riding?

When I first went prone several years back, one of the first things I tried was a "mini Simmons" style board Terry Martin shaped for me from I blank I glued up. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_yjGk1sOquOE/Sm_SpVuTrQI/AAAAAAAAEGo/iPc15TrPzhc/s400/terry_martin_paipo.jpg It ended up being just way ...

Re: New plywood paipo

That looks fun. I have been cogitating on a similar project. The cork may absorb some water making it noticeably heavier; I haven't noticed this with the Bodypo but the one home built board I have with a cork deck I ended up sealing the cork with Barge Cement. http://mypaipoboards.org/forum3/downloa...

Re: Need feedbacks on the HPD XL

Paulownia is close to the weight of female balsa and lighter than male balsa and doesn't readily absorb water like balsa as well.
IMO it's worth the effort to find.

Re: Is it possible to stand up surfing a paipo ?

A few weeks ago SHACC hosted a party thrown by Maurice Cole for Tom Curren.

Curren showed his current surf toy, essentially a skimboard with fins.

Show him this: http://hydrodynamica.com/totem/paipo.php A young and limber Wally Froiseth wearing Churchill's. The old Churchill's were so flexible you could easily do a pop up with them on. I rode a Lis Fish kneeling or standing like that in the 70's. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/87/89...

Aloha Bob,
Looks like a heap o' fun.
Please show some more pictures of the bottom. A tail end view down the stringer without the fin would be nice.

Re: New Wood Paipo Mnia board

There's a lot of variables with plywood. I built this board a couple years ago out of an old sign made of half inch MDO plywood which is usually made with doug fir so it's not light but it is rather stiff. For me this board has the perfect amount of flex. http://mypaipoboards.org/forum3/download/fil...
