Re: My new SDF surfboard Paipo
Got in on the board again at a different break i had not surfed on it yet, 3ft and clean Aframe beach break. The more I surf this board the more I like it, it drove through some barrels today I don't think I would have got out of on my bodyboard, finding it super easy to catch waves on now. It's qui...

Re: Central coast Paipo rider (and so-cal)
Kage, thats how its done. All you other "surfers" on this site and others take note, dont go on about this spot or that spot, blabbing its name and location all over the internets and dont tell me "get with it old man, there aint no secret spots no more," i get that, but why rem...

Re: Central coast Paipo rider (and so-cal)
I am in Santa Barbara (South Central Coast.....or North Southern California.....let the debate begin). Rincon is a great wave but worse than the 101 during rush hour. Spudnut and I have a few less crowded favorites between Ventura and SB we might share with someone PASSING through. Tha...

Re: New EPS Prone Flyer
That's all very interesting to read. I've found with boards there are two ways to go. 1: I want aboard that lets me surf how I want to surf 2: I will surf the board I get how it best wants to be surfed. I know if i surfed a board of the huge volume of yours I would have to surf it the way it wanted ...

Re: Central coast Paipo rider (and so-cal)
I live in Ventura. It is about an hour north of Los Angeles. Let me know when you are down this way. Plenty of breaks here. Cool two paipo guys in ventura, I have driven by a few times on the way to LA, always surfed ricon and then headed south, I have seen dane renolds ripping up ventura but never...

Re: My new SDF surfboard Paipo
I converted over to fiberglass paipo boards from bodyboards about a year ago. (Although I had a couple fiberglass paipo boards in the 70s.) I took me about 8 months to really master the paipo. My board is bigger than yours and has twin fins. I am about 6 feet 205 lbs. My board is 51 inches by 22 in...

Re: New EPS Prone Flyer
That's a very interesting board!! So am i right in saying 6ft 3" and 29" wide. how thick? How tall are you and what do you weigh. It sounds huge to me for a prone board. Can you turn it? of is it just a flyer? My own board has the chine rails, V and a single concave but No fins, have to tr...

Re: My new SDF surfboard Paipo
what happens when forcing the nose down on a bodyboard catching a wave, whether i'm keeping the board flat, forcing reverse rocker, but some how the paipo's boyancey and stiffness bounces back at me I think you need to back your weight off the board a bit and push the board forward. The "bend&...

Re: My new SDF surfboard Paipo
The dimensions are on the last photo, but if you cant read them its. 44.1/4" long 21 3/8" wide and 2 5/8" thick. yeah as you say, guys seems to come to paipos from all angles. My background being bodyboarding I have come at it from that angle, with the curve of this board being taken ...

Re: Cork deck
Hard to say, at least a day; the main reason I added the glue topcoat was the extra weight of the absorbed water made the board too heavy. It probably will depend on the density of the cork used. Some is very dense and not too absorbant but the stuff I had sucked up a lot of water. Your mileage may...

My new SDF surfboard Paipo
Well here are the first photos of my new paipo, it's glassed and hot coated but not sanded yet.
My two inspirations were:
Larry Goddard (named it the rincon rocket)
Tom Wegener's Seaglass tuna which I borrowed chine rail and concave from for finless use.
