Re: The Immigrint board
Wetsuits can be like swim fins, see how it fits on you. O'Neil wetsuits have consistently fit me (whether I was skinnier or plumper) but Rip Curls were just the opposite (constricting my range of motion). Try before buy.

Senegal Kids Dying in Surf
Tangentially a paipo surfing-related article (because of this photograph). Senegal is one of the areas of the world was surfriding was enjoyed with indigenous origins. The weather and waters are warm and rich in surf originating from the far southern latitudes. Once again, where conditions meet oppo...

that thing has a huge wing span and depth if i read the dimensions correctly. Much prefer the idea of a smaller profile foil ala Gilbert Lum,

Bodyboard Hydrofoil Video
Interesting footage. The foil seems huge to me ant unsuitable for the places I usually ride

Not sure about the Haipo. All I know is that Gus was having issues with production builders.

Re: PAIPO by HYPR
The Hypr models, not to be confused with the Hypo models, are based on or off of Gus Acosta's board designs. Well, the fiberglass looking ones vice the wood looking ones. He was trying to, or did obtain, some patents for building and selling his design board, the Wave Arrow. There is some more here ...

Re: Do swim fins generate drag significantly ?
I am 5'10", ride a 50 inch board. All my boards are basically 50 inches except for the wood Xylem which might be 48 inches. In some cases the swim fins are extended in the manner in which Krusher relates, in other times one might be plop into the wave during a turn. I don't think about it too m...

Re: TBG5
So, my 50 inch board would need to be 10 inches wide to avoid all that lift and skipping as a planning. LOL, at 10 inches wide it would no longer be a planning hull but a displacement hull

Re: TBG5
Knees do act like natural shock absorbers. But, I have also noticed that cross-chop/cross-swell tends to create a special scenario when moving at speed in an open ocean wave (meaning one several, several hundred yards out where I have encountered this happening). My body/belly can't do what my knees...

Are those drain hole eyes on the bottom? Need them on the top so the sand and pebbles drain out during paddling!

Re: auctions
Last year the estimated sale prices were closer to the actual, a couple a little below and one much higher. This year some of the estimated prices seemed a little inflated and people were a bit more choosy, at least in the paipo world.

Due to a few interruptions I was unable to attempt upgrading the software over the weekend and the past couple of days. Re: T-Belly G6
I agree that extended legs can and do extend the "wetted surface". But that "extended surface" creates a lot more drag than the form drag of the hull. Its that extra drag of the legs and swim fins that can be used to control direction, much like dragging an oar in a canoe. Taken...

Re: T-Belly G6
Boards do not have to get too long to be legs free during riding. Much of the time my legs are bent up at the knee at a 90 degree angle, more or less. It is also true the legs had be used as an additional turning keel, at times, and at other times with the right kind of swim fins the leg extension c...

Re: River surfing:Setting the record straight.
The surfriders in Munich have really taken their Isar River surfing to a high level. You will often see various riders show up with their vehicles full of slats of timber that is then used to tailor the wave shape.
