Re: Paipo Building Advice

That is an elusive dream of mine as well. I would love to glide into wave very early. I am always envious of longboarders and shortboarders who get into waves earlier than me. Basically the longer, thicker and flatter the more glide. Look at the post EPS prone flyer post below. In the interviews ther...

Re: Two Crows Belly Board

There are many different styles of riding. But I surfed for 20 years without fins/skegs and I am having a blast with fins again now. I don't do 360s, but crank turns as hard as anyone and on my board the fins don't inhibit turning at all. I can turn on dime. I find they really help on making section...

Re: Short paipo video

Doc Robert, That Thiez board is at the Coast Cafe in Bolinas, CA. I am still planning on going out there sometime take pictures of that board and other 3 boards. I don't go surfing very often there. It takes a lot of swell and from the right direction for it to be any good for paipo boarding.

Two Crows Belly Board

My son showed this page to me. It has little fins. What do you think? I see little fins on boards made by standard surfboard shapers. http://twocrowssurfboards.blogspot.com/ ... rd_13.html

Re: Buffalo's Big Board Surfing Contest

I am a real purist. I only surf naked with no fins or boards---year round here in Northern California. Any other type of surfing isn't "real" surfing.

Re: Jeff Chamberlain Riding his 6'3" Paipo

I wish I rode his board when we were at the Paipopalusa last summer. I didn't feel carrying it down the beach. Looks fun.

Paipo Boarder at Rincon?

Check this out. It will only be up for today. It is from Surfline. This looks like a paipo boarder. Looks to fast for a bodyboarder. http://www.surfline.com/surf-report/rin ... rnia_4197/

Re: Humboldt surfer

The air temperature is the big deal. The air is alot colder up there. It is only in the high forties-low fifties here.
We're having a big storm right now with big un-rideable surf. Hopefully the wind will calm down and I can out at a protected spot tomorrow.

Re: Humboldt surfer

It's only 1.5 degrees colder than here where I am. I use a good 4/3 wetsuit. That should be fine.

Re: Humboldt surfer

If you are passing through the Bay Area on the way up to Humbolt, let me know. I would love to see your TBelly board. I thinking about about having another one built. I could take you out to some spots around here.

Re: Soft Grom board

This is the board I wanted to post before. I've seen these at my local surfshop. I would like to rent one (So I don't have to spent $500 experimenting.), because I have wondered how long I can go without interfering with my ride. I have been thinking about this for larger waves. It would be sort of ...

Re: Date this board

I usually only date human females. But the board looks home made. As a side note I went to to a cafe a local beach where I had seen some Paipo boards a long time ago to take another look. There were 4 vintage paipo boards hanging from the ceiling. I will go back and ask the owners about them and tak...

Did you let it dry 24 hours between coats? Also too think a coat will do it also. Or it is a bad batch.

Re: Central coast Paipo rider (and so-cal)

I have never surfed underneath the gate, but I have had some great surf this at Ocean Beach this fall. I am either going there or on the other side of the gate tomorrow. It supposed to be 8-10 feet. We'll see what kind of paddle out I am up for.
