Best wave of the summer
This is the best wave I've seen this summer so far. I don't travel much and the idea of traveling to hopefully better waves in much more crowded zones (which is the curse of Summer in SoCal) doesn't make any sense to me. We'll see how things go...this isn't doing it for me. Anybody else? Are we all ...

Re: eBodyboarding Kevlar Fin Socks
I had to look up "cobbler"... yikes! Since we don't have them in North America, where do they jab you when you contact them? If it's right up the foot the kevlar bootie soles might work or help. My guess is the kevlar isn't anywhere else on the booties other than the sole though. I'd consi...

Re: Futures fin screw
I'll give it all a whack and see what works. Or go finless. But I want to run this with fins. Sigh.
Now lets see if I can figure out posting photos. It's been a while. Flojo didn't you say you had one of these once? I got this from a guy in Santa Paula.

Futures fin screw
I picked up an old Bomb Bellyboard that needs some work. I took out the Futures fins, taped off the box to do some cleanup, took the tape off and now one of the fin screws won't go in very far. I cleaned the hole and blew air through it but to no avail yet. Anybody have any experience with this issu...

Re: Dorsal Swim Fins
Totally agree on the fit...bit. That said, does anybody know where one could actually try on some Dorsal fins in SoCal/Ventura County? They do have a good sizing chart but I always fall right on the cusp between two sizes. Adding fin socks further complicates the matter. I've enjoyed the fin socks l...

Re: yucca fins
Flojo - have you had a chance to try the Yuccas yet? And what flex level if you know? I'm considering...I tried a couple on for sizing and if I go with Yuccas I'll have to commit to fin socks or not, I'm right on the size edge.

Re: Basics.
Next time you are in the water try riding that backward...with the squared off end forward. Not joking. I'm assuming the rails are parallel (can't really tell from photo) but if the tail is narrower than the rounded end even better. Didn't catch the dimensions you were working with but there are no ...

Re: Monolith 2001: XLPE
Fat tail like that is good for catching waves and going fast but yeah, turning has challenges. I rode a board for a while back in the 70's that had a really fat wide diamond tail but my guess from misty memory is it was probably 12"-14" a foot up. Maybe 16" max. Great board for the ti...

Looks like it goes fast from that spray line. And like you have most of the rail buried. Video please!

Re: A Ripple in the Force
Thanks for posting that stuff, fantastic, especially to see those boards.
Maybe we need to update the old Endless Summer/Phil Edwards lines about "being here yesterday" or "an hour ago"...
You should have been here half a century ago!

Re: A Ripple in the Force
Morey was also engaged with innovating removable skegs (board fins). Forgot all about that, good call Rod. W.A.V.E. Set fins. Via the Mactavish/Greenough connection I suppose Greenough fins were commercially available through them. Stage IV - that was a good fin on a 7'9" Morey Pope I had back...

Re: A Ripple in the Force
I too was sad to read the news. I didn't know Morey at all other than a passing email communication a couple of decades ago but I've known of him my entire surfing life. I'm an "old surfer" at this stage, and lately I try to keep my peanut gallery comments on most anything wave-riding to m...

Re: Prone Foil
Thanks for posting the link. Between that vid and the "boogie foil" series that came up after I think I got my questions answered. I like the idea of the feeling of "flight" but that looks awkward, uncomfortable, and without flow...beyond the suggested vid where the person just r...

So I was watching the videos of Hamilton riding Chicama on foil boards...has anybody around here actually tried riding a modern foil board prone?

They seem like the only logical explanations. Nothing but the best for surfers! So if I put Geoffrey's & Nels insights together, the leather comes from drunken masochistic cattle.
