Re: Can't help myself
Paul, I think it will ride fine. The first board of any new style is us kind of a proto type for me. I haven't tried a hull yet. Bring it to the get together in October.

Re: Paipo Gathering - Oct 8-10, 2017
The two times I went, I had a lot of fun. If you are obsessed with paipo boards like I am, you should make a plans to attend. It only happens about every two years. So don't miss it. It is good to reserve a camping early, because this campground is popular.

Re: Can't help myself
Hi Paul, I also want build a 5 footer, after my next board. I saw this at a used rack local at a local shop. It is a Haut Batman. I was and still am tempted to buy it. It is 5' x 21 1/2 x 2 1/2 with thin rails. It is 18 /12 at 1 foot from the nose and tail. But it is a little thin in the tail and no...

I Saw These
I met this guy in Santa Cruz. He says he had these shaped by Dick Brewer. These are mockups from a mold. They will be composite fiber molded kind of like SurfTech boards. The square nosed is about 48". The round nose is shorter. They have bodyboard like rails. The bottoms have angular channels....

Re: New Mega Platter
Flojo, With this board I was focusing mostly more extension out of turns and down the line speed to get past sections. But I was hoping earlier take offs and foam take offs as well. I am a slow kicker. So anything into a wave the better (My dream). It did achieve both of those things. It is mostly i...

Re: New Mega Platter
I got to ride my Maxi Paipo on some better waves last weekend. I had a blast! I rode it both with quad fins and as a twin. I also put my new Cove pad on it. I now see why Skiff likes bigger boards. It definitely has much better down the line speed and the ability to get past sections better. I am ab...

New Covepad Deck Material
Here are couple shots of the new material that Covepads uses now. It is about 5/16". It isn't quite as grippy as the old pad material. But it looks a little better and I think it will last longer. I still don't see why everyone doesn't these pads. They are great! So much more comfortable. NO WA...

New Mega Platter
Here is my first attempt at a "mega platter". It is 4' 9" x 22.5" x about 2 1/4" max thickness. I was inspired by Skiff and decided to make one for a local break (Bolinas), where I could never make the section and for other wally breaks. I took it out this weekend for the fi...

Re: New Wood Paipo Mnia board
I made a male mold out of EPS foam. And the i clamped it down with a bunch of clamps. I also put some weights on it. It is more flexible than I expected. I might make another with 5 layers of 1/8" plywood. I wasn't looking when cut the sheet up for me at the lumber yard, They cut it with the gr...
