Re: Adding Cork Deck
I ride a couple of boards with cork decks. The decks certainly get wet but on a fibreglass board I've not noticed an appreciable increase in weight. Conversely, on a thin board I don't think there would be a significant increase in flotation.
Re: Sumatra
Pohnpei sure looks nice, but I'm committed to a Mentawi trip, near where Thumpa has in mind.

Latest paipo interview
Here is the latest paipo interview with the late Jacky Rott, a French surfing pioneer: https://mypaipoboards.org/interviews/JackyRott/JackyRott_Eng_2022-04_26.shtml . A tribute to Jacky Rott is also included in Gerard Decoster's temporary exhibition: http://surfing-memory.com/la-collection-boardvisi...

Re: Paepo’o - my boards
I was curious about the white butterfly like shapes on the boards (like bow tie pasta, farfelle). On one board they look like stitches across a crack.
Is this there function or is it design? They look heavy or are thye lighter than they look. Either way, looks like you're having fun on them.

Re: Calf cramping
It really isn't a simple story. There is a large literature on this: https://journals.lww.com/acsm-csmr/fulltext/2008/07001/muscle_cramps_during_exercise_is_it_fatigue_or.9.aspx "And as empirical evidence grows, it is becoming increasingly clear that there are two distinct and dissimilar genera...

Yeah it is a pretty rare occurrence for me as well, to surf with anyone else on a paipo. Then again I don't run across them generally.

No, but 1/2" should be ok. If not expensive, worth a go.

Gday, I'd noticed a few bellyboard/paipo related posts in kneeboard and vintage surfboard collector sites, so thought why not a BB page (there are a couple of traditional UK BB pages). Rod had a Facebook page that was gathering dust, so I suggested an update and have posted some stuff there. If you'...

Re: Bob's Paipo
I had about 10 days surfing to test the board. It went way better than I thought it would: catches waves easily, handles a steep drop, holds an edge in the barrel and turns well. One thing I was less sure about was that it didn't seem to plane as well as my other boards. However, when I rode a wave ...
