Re: TBG5
Knees do act like natural shock absorbers. My body/belly can't do what my knees and legs can do in a standing position. one reason I'm such a proponent of boards shorter than most people seem to ride it that I like to ride with about a 90 degree angle on my rail arm elbow while holding the nose. Th...

Re: TBG5
I don't believe that rocker has anything directly to do with lift. If anything, rocker slows a board down when going in a straight line. Your shapes tend to be smaller (less planing area) than mine. You may have come upon a combination of volume and planing area for your weight that, while fast, do...

Re: TBG5
Tomas: was just trying to compare rocker to my own designs seeing mine have about 1/4" yours at 1" would be a lot to me, I wonder how much tail rocker a bodyboard bends to from its static 0. I can't say I have really noticed the chop/skipping think at all, either my boards don't do it, I d...

It's hard to tell from the pictures but with those tail concaves does the G5 have a lot of tail rocker?

Re: New summer Groveler
I managed to get in the shaping room today to finish off the new board :D The two changes I have made from my standard board are instead of a full swallow I have gone to a clipped swallow? :? my thinking is in stand up surfboard terms the one side of a swallow tail is like a pintail, and this tail I...

Re: T-Belly G6
according to those bodyboard measurements, I do not understand why the paipos are made as big, 49 and 52 as you comment in the first post? What is the overdose that is compared to 42 of the bodyboard? my paipos are 43/44 x 18.5... 20 max inch and I measure 1.75cm weight 75kg My own paipos are 43&qu...

Re: T-Belly G6
“I find it is the opposite of surfboards. So, the bigger and heavier the wave the smaller the board you can ride. Since those waves give so much more speed you just increase your control by using a smaller board which is super helpful when making crucial late drops or bottom turns on slabby waves. ...

Re: The Immigrint board
Welcome to the cold north of England! (I grew up in Cumbria across on the other coat from you.) There are some of the best waves in England just an hour and a half north of you in Staithes, there fickle but much better than Cornwall. and you have thurso up in Scotland. (and I'm across in Ireland if ...

New summer Groveler
I have been using my standard paipo in good waves and my old faithful "the log" BZ retro bodyboard in small, flat or crowded waves. So I thought it was time to experiment and try to replace the summer bodyboard groveler with a paipo. Already having a CNC cut file for standard performance p...

But does more curve not equal more drag in the same way as more toe on a fin does?

Re: T-Belly G6
Good questions...The outline of TB needs to be considered relative to all of its other design features, which includes the use of fins. The outline shape of the finned TBs speaks to the difference between finned and finless prone-board shapes. The TB designs are driven by the use of fins for primar...

Re: T-Belly G6
If I have read it and the reason for the question, the design of nomastomas is very far below the measures recommended by Larry and this is precisely my curiosity I see in the designs very much like board rails contact with the water due to the narrowing of the nose http://mypaipoboards.org/intervi...

Re: T-Belly G6
I'm very curious about the narrowness of your boards, in what improvement compared to a more oval design? with nose wider? thank you very much, you are an inspiration for me have you seen the Goddard sketches? Asier. Good notes on them. http://mypaipoboards.org/interviews/LarryGoddard/Designs/thumb...

Re: T-Belly G6
How do you find the concave deck for positioning? I really like to have my hip and elbow way over on the engaged rail (but maybe that's a finless thing) although I see stand up surfers foot position also goes over towards the engaged rail.
Do you lie in the central position for both lefts and rights?

Re: Question about skegs
if you are willing to screw them on in 10 different places to find where they work best then it will be an interesting learning process. (dont forget toe angles too) I do think you are inherently fighting against an initial design that isnt the best for turning in the first place. My shorter wider p...

Re: New (to me) stuff on Tom Wegener's site
There's nothing particularity strange about a composite design. I had one made by Tom but have only surfed it in very small conditions. I'm planning to surf it over Easter. Mine has a cork deck, wood bottom. BWS-bottom.jpg BWS-deck.jpg BWS_foil.jpg BWS_tailView.jpg I have another composite board th...

Plus updated info and new models on his other prone craft https://www.tomwegenersurfboards.com/models/surfie-bellyboards The "big wave surfie" looks interesting, although I find that mixing foam and wood is a strange idea.[/quote] If you see cork as foam and wood as fiberglass then all yo...
