Re: Duckfeet/DaFin comparison (land-based early impressions)

Some years ago someone on kneeboard forum got some. There report was that they did not provide much in the way of actual effects. Super comfortable but only a bit more speed and acceleration than barefoot kicking!

Re: Convex/concave bottoms etc

This thread on Swaylock's might be of interest here, esp Ace's comments http://www.swaylocks.com/forums/belly-or-convex-longboard-bottom I have never ridden a convex bottom prone board by in my stand-up experience, quite a few. Seems to me they need to very much be built for the waves they will be r...

Re: Convex/concave bottoms etc

Yes, may not have the hold to really hard carve turns at high speed without the concave. Interested to see/hear what you think comparing foam/glass to wood once you get to ride similar bottom configurations in each

Convex/concave bottoms etc

So as to keep the rail curve thread "pure", in case there is further comment on use of alaia bottoms with and without concave, this from Tom Wegener's site THE SURFIE IS FOR BODY BOARDING IN MEDIUM TO SMALL SURF It is thin so it flexes and gives you the best feeling in the wave. It is like...

Re: Rail curve, how does it work?

Thanks OG. Earlier, from reading this thread and other stuff, I was wondering about comparative effects of rounded/convex bottom vs the more complex rounded near rails and concave down the center

Doesn't the concave come from Tom Wegener's experiments over the past few years? He started by directly copying the Bishop boards then found that adding the concave worked even better for most uses?

Might, but width a lot less than length so you can duck deeper and still have less board "down", yes?

Does anyone have any tips or pointers?
Have not done this in BIG waves but you can sure stay in the wave longer, to the bitter end, and still get out clean. Most of the time.

Just be mindful of the bottom! :o :o :o

Que the Twilight Zone theme.... this link reviewing them claims they are exact same size as the oldies http://www.churchillfinsreview.com/viper-vector-fins-whats-the-change-and-difference-with-the-v5-and-v7-new-viper-vectors-swim-fin/ Also says they cut their mold time by factor of 10. I think they ...

From all I know, the epoxy part is far far secondary in relationship to what you experienced in terms of performance. Subtle (and not so subtle) nuances of shape/design are the real keys. Kudos to Nomastomas!

Re: Dr. Robert's Sefiroth Bonzer Paipo

I've ridden Nofins with rope handles. You just have to be careful sometimes when wiping out to let go to avoid twisting your wrist/thumb. Otherwise no problems. Definitely overhand grip only and even then you are right, slightly increased risk over solid handle for wrists/thumbs since thumb would b...

Re: Dr. Robert's Sefiroth Bonzer Paipo

Sort of an answer to Surffoils post in another thread mentioning losing eyes, teeth, etc to handle impact. "rope" version would be very strong as single strand I think something like 600 lb test or more --- probably 3 running lengths then spiral wrap, dependent upon how many times could st...

Re: Dr. Robert's Sefiroth Bonzer Paipo

Don't know if it would work as well, but seems like you could make quite serviceable handle out of some thick(ish) nylon wrapped poly cord. Sort of a macramé deal and attach it using 2 leash plugs installed up front. If it were tight enough, and woven so somewhat stiff, might look good and pose less...

Re: Riding position

Yeah, looks like handle increased functional body length through increased leverage. Longer board gives more glide, planning, earlier take-offs, better peak chasing, many pluses.

I have seen those in photos before and my first thought was that you could really damage yourself on them in a full rinse cycle wipe out. Second thought was, "Keep the ladies off my handles!"

Re: Dr. Robert's Sefiroth Bonzer Paipo

Dr. Robert, thank you! That was a fascinating post, great reading. I have been interested in the handles for quite awhile and never gotten around to trying one. I do think that now the hook is set :) So a question: Do you know a formula you can share for determining handle fore/aft placement? Also, ...
