Re: Dr. Robert's Sefiroth Bonzer Paipo

I think those "old school" boards w/ the hand grab bar across nose may have been set up as way to get more leverage to power turns on stiffer boards like that. Should be able to get into wave a lot earlier I would think and maintain speed through flats etc much better.

Re: T-Belly Generation 2

So is it planning area, of extra nose width and forward wide point that make this board such a wave catcher?
Complex interaction of all that plus rocker amount and distribution (those make a huge difference), maybe other subtle factors as well...

Re: T-Belly Generation 2

And yeah, personality definitely an issue. When lot of interpersonal aggression and/or rail banging etc is required, I am on the beach/done. Takes all the joy out of it for me. I would rather drive far and ride crappy waves and surf solitude than put up with that

Re: T-Belly Generation 2

actually crowds and shiftyness is more of a personality issue. it can be solved, if they sit deep, i can sit deeper, if the peak shifts around dont be that chase the peak guy, wait and itll come back to you. and always remember, dont be afraid to go. and see the video of wave hog peepo riders, kroo...

Re: Cork deck

I was thinking for sealing cork could squeegee on thin coat of epoxy and it should soak in before it sets. Alternate, the cheap and dirty, would be gentle use of heat gun ("borrowed" hair dryer) to melt some paraffin in. Either I hope! would leave it feeling still pretty soft and cork lik...

:) Cheap thrills indeed! That hang off the back deal can get you in a lot earlier though should desire or need arise.

Re: T-Belly Generation 2

Great ride report! Curious if you tried the "hang off the back w/ arms extended and kick like crazy" approach to take-offs? (Also same works quite well w/ slower kicking to travel A-->B)

4GF Standard up for grabs

Long story. The relevant short is that I am pretty much done with mats. I got this from PG probably 7 or 8 years ago but it is still in fine condition. No pin air at all [just to double check, pulled it out, blew it up tight and it has been sitting now 4+ hours with zero detectable loss of pressure....

As for the "puke pads"--maybe when I was 16 years old but I have rather different aesthetic now.

Re: Cork deck

Yes I think the NL20 CoreCork is the one but key is can you buy it in small piece other than big roll? And if so where/how? I just emailed company to see if they have suggestions. I'll post if anything comes back

Re: T-Belly Generation 2

Most young people fear the judgement (and possible rejection) of their peers, who help to define their identity. It takes a pretty strong sense of self-identity to step away from the crowd, try a new experience, take risks. Paipo/bellyboard riders have that in spades...that's one of the reasons I l...

Re: My new SDF surfboard Paipo

Also, I imagine you added a lot of rocker to compensate for lack of bb flex?

I think standard bb rocker is 0 (dead flat) in tail and about 1 7/8" in nose or even a bit less, just curved up to meet thickness of blank.

Re: My new SDF surfboard Paipo

44.1/4" long 21 3/8" wide and 2 5/8" thick. Just found out via email query to Jay Reale that nearly all bb are 2 1/8" thick. Curious as to why you went thicker. I don't know difference in float between EPS and bb core material but I know bb's are pretty floaty... I may just have...
