Re: Finless or Not?
After watching "bodyboarding" since its inception it seems to me that the original design came out astonishingly "final". Significant improvements have been made with design and materials and construction methods since the original kit boards, but a modern bodyboard would be ins...

SDF surfboards finless paipo SOLD!
Hi, putting my second SDF built foam and fiberglass finless paipo up for sale. After trying a few tweeks to my original design, bit more volume, touch less rocker and touch less concave I dont like this board as much as my previous design. So its up for sale. Has concave and V in the back of the boa...

Re: Finless or Not?
Hello Rod, I wasn't thinking of boogie boarders in terms ofthe dragging a leg - krusher or one of the guys with a background in boogie boards might have more to say on this aspect. It would be interesting to hear if the wood boards guys here use this method much. I'll check out the footage I have t...

My Wood project (paipo 3)
OK, going for something different on this one.
Going to try to replicate the shape of my SDF no1, but in locally grown welsh cedar from my friends Forrest.
Doing a 4 plank router chambered method, not done much woodwork before , could go horribly wrong

Re: Wavejet bodyboard
I have followed wave jet from the beginning, there propulsion system is sound but very expensive (in 10 years i will be 10% of that price from other companies) There execution of putting one in a "bodyboard" is however horrible!! just read there corporate sales spiell!! "WaveJet Body ...

Re: Finless or Not?
I Have probably said this before somewhere :? but anywho. I stole tom wegners design for the bottom of my finless paipo, so i dont have a fin in the traditional sense, but i do have something doing effectively the same job, see on this video the bit at 42secs about traction. https://www.youtube.com/...

Re: Finless or Not?
After switching back to finned boards after surfing 20 years on finless boards, I will never go back. My twin finned board is very loose and still holds when you need it. It is almost skate like and yet it makes very tight turns. I love my fins. So many types of fins, so few days. What did you find...

Re: Wegener Albacore
Bit ate to this thread, but I "ripped off" the concave to V in the rear of the albacore/tuna/alaia's of wegner on my 3"8 SDF boards (see other threads) works very well for me. I would never have a board that length though, never turn it prone.

Re: Finless or Not?
I've ridden the same board, finned and finless. Besides surfer preference, the other big variable is the wave. In a hollow wave I don't think there is much difference, however, if the wave has full sections and you want to do big cutbacks the finned boards, let you do this more radically/readily. T...

Re: Ab unexpected paipo hookup in Indo
Hi, Yeah I personally dont care what name is used. When I personally refer to a bodyboard I mean whats globally accepted as the things tom moray invented in the 70's. Whe i get the usual " whats that thing?" question at the beach,I just say its a fibreglass bodyboard, if i say its a paipo ...

Re: Finless or Not?
On a follow up I got to try out a finned paipo on my g-land trip with a board swap one day with Terry The conditions that day we 2/3ft and the tide was very high, so this is as slopey and slow as g-land gets. I found on the finned board that because the fins were on the back corners, that on a slow ...

Re: Ab unexpected paipo hookup in Indo
some of the best photo's yet of modern paipo riding! nice. 27 days at G-Land..a tough life! paipo on! Thanks, its not so hard to get good photos when a guy sits in a boat for 6 hours and sells you the shots. ;) It was great to get out to G-land on a paipo after being there 6 times before on a bodyb...

Re: SDF paipo NO2!
Krusher, your photo mate with paipo successfully arrived to Costa Rica this afternoon after his marathon trip from G-Land. Like the looks of the SDF in this photo (of course, I would need to pop a few fins on!). Nicely done elbow pads. Terry spoke highly of his days with you at G-Land :) What a coi...
