Re: 44.25 paipo

A little convex/roundness, under nose can also go a long ways towards smoothing chop. I too thought rails looked a bit thick. OK for very small, weak waves but would indeed tend to slide out in any juice or steep

Pretty sure it was Hydro Techs I had. Nice to know they have a useful model out.

Re: orca fins? other symmetrical fins

My two cents on Hydro Tech 2, great material, probably could go barefoot in warm waters, very soft and supple, and a wide and tall foot pocket. They must have done some serious re-tooling and sourced different materials. I had a pair about 10 or 12 years ago (guess they could have been Hydro Tech 1...

Re: Everybody wants to

That's my kind of precision weight system! Works great.

Those are some mighty boxy rails on that beast. Interesting to see how it rides. I suspect fins on it will be mandatory.

I thought I might mention what I have learned from the creative Italians as a useful technique that can be applied to rubber fin "shoes" that fit tight and or need to be loosened up a bit I would expect no less from the creators of pizza! I have pondered in the past how expand stiff rubbe...

Re: Everybody wants to

i'n 5 years i think i have nailed down my paipo design to something i think i could ride for the rest of my days, as I feel the weakest link now is my skill, the board will do what ever I want with out and fight back. So I think now if i constructed one from light enough paulowina (and dont get fat...

Re: Everybody wants to

To amend my post above, I think Morey's creation of the bb is one of the most brilliant ideas in surfing and have greatly enjoyed riding them. Materials is the problem. Once they die, and everything dies, what happens to it. Also, what resources are used to create it in the first place. We now have ...

Re: Everybody wants to

The boogie/bodyboard industry have their own wave storm, its the sub $50 bought by the inlanders one week a year beach holiday for the the kids. Here are 600 snapped one left on just a few southern English beaches this summer :( That certainly highlights the enviro disaster that is surfing except f...

Re: Am I asking for too much?

I vote surfmat! I have ridden both foam and wood paipo, short and long standup, high performance, cruisers, hulls, the works. Hands down the most versatile overall fun has been the mats. From teeny ankle slappers to well overhead (standup) they go great. Of course they are best in lined up point sur...

Re: Everybody wants to

Never even seen or felt one in person so no idea of top skin texture? but I've cleaned some pretty nasty wax off boards just by leaving them deck up in the sun for an hour or so and then shaving w/ putty knife. Obvious I know. What's up with this beast? Toe in on fins will create wee bit of drag but...

Re: Can't help myself

To be my usual broken record I ride finless, so when I hear "I didn't have a big enough fin" I feel that more than having a fin too small its more, your maybe not engaging the fin you have, from either it being on the wrong place on the board or you not positioned on the board to engage t...

Mighty impressive minimalist tube riding. It would be great fun if we could time machine back to pre-Euro invasion Hawaii and turn them on to this. They could easily adapt to canoe launch instead of SUP. Have to experiment to see if kapa cloth would be strong enough for the foot straps...
