Re: Soloshot 3 testing.
The result is great quality, but aren't you scarded that your camera would be stolen while you are in the water ? By the way, nice rides, I like the spins and the cut backs. Regarding the trademarks, there is a free software I use that doesn't put trademarks, it is called davinci resolve or somethi...

And people have been having horrible problems with them. :( I did get it half price through the kick starter and mine so far ...

Re: Bodyboards discuss (the soft paipo)
Beautiful camera work to me. Must admit I"m not a fan of the GoPro POV stuff, esp in tiny surf where you can't really seem much of anything. This though, made me happy just watching Interesting wave I think at 4:24 where only contact points w/ board are hands and a very small area of his insid...

Wegeners tuns is where I stole my paipo hulls from works very well. i think it took him around 18 trys/prototypes to get it right.GeoffreyLevens wrote:And don't forget Tom Wegener's Albacore

Re: paipo 50 inch drop knee?
I have always wondered how a paipo would work as a drop knee board. Since I am not a drop kneeer myself (I tried several times on a bodyboard but I have failed so far), I would be curious to know the result of your tests. I guess the board fins will help. With out fins my good bodyboarding friend c...

Re: paipo 50 inch drop knee?
You have done the same as me , my best body board is 41.5. I used this as template and now have 43"paipo. (more nose) Your tail rocker at 1" may be too much , bodyboards have 0 but can flex, I think i have 1/4" on mt paipo, your 1" will be slower but maybe better for control. You...

Re: paipo 50 inch drop knee?
In the bodyboard world most of the top DK riders just use a pretty standard 42" board, some of the legends use a 43" with the wide point set further back as the pivot point to turn it further back when on the knee than prone. My friend who is a good Dker tried my finless paipo and really s...

Re: Finless T-Belly
Feel it on the legs where the board ends. Having spent the last almost 50 years of life in the racing industry, I, in my mind called it turbulence and attributed it to the fast moving water under the board, accelerated by the channels hitting a low pressure area behind the board creating a swirling...

Re: Bodyboards discuss (the soft paipo)
So after bodyboards having very little changes in hull design since i have been riding them for 25 years there seems to be a "new design" on the block. I'm seems pretty much every board company (since most of them come out of the same factory) have added a quad channel to thier line up. Bu...

Re: Finless T-Belly
OK, I'll chime in. I have the sister FX. I think Thomas built his because I was talking to him about doing a finless board. Some background I'm a old guy who had to give up stand up because of loss of function after two knee replacements. I sold everything and was about to shoot myself when I disco...

Re: Finless T-Belly
So with a twin fins or quad the outer fins being single foil like plane wing can give lift. But central fins being twin foil would just create drag?
Tried these Thomas https://vimeo.com/24847687 (rastas "spiral" talk sounds like a loads of hippy bullshit to me. lol)

Re: Finless T-Belly
Interesting to hear feedback on the finless. (the FX looks to have a lot of curve in the template which would slow it up?) The only experience I had was with the one fin-able board I had, when I took the fins out it felt much faster to me. But the perception of speed can be an odd thing. I think as ...
