Gday Kage,
All the best to you as well.
2019 was a very mixed year.
I was hoping to post some next board photos but the board is waiting to be sanded (it is a duplicate of a board that had an unhappy meeting with a airline transfer cart).

Thanks. I found his site: https://www.surfline.co.nz/category/surfboards/hot-curl/ A n extract: "The Double Hot Curl is where the Hot Curl transforms from a traditional displacement hull into a futuristic planing hull. Think of it as Hot Curl meets Fish! This board is designed with two "Ho...

Re: Mexico
Uncle G,
Thanks again.
Between Oaxaca and Guatemala was where I was thinking.
I'll check out the area you mentioned,

Re: Mexico
Thanks Uncle G. I think I'll see if I can squeeze a few days in, down southern Mexico.
Mexico
Does anyone venture down to Baja Mexico, or know surfguide/tours that do?

Re: Greetings from Portugal
Boa noite, Krusher on this forum has made a few paipo based on bodyboard shapes. These were foam and fibreglass. A ply board will have a lot less buoyancy than a foam bodyboard. Fins probably aren't necessary, though this will depend on the waves you surf and the experience that you are looking for....

Re: Immigrant board Mk2
Looking at your board, I was thinking you could make one without the wings, but include an attachment so you could fit different size wings, like FCS.
They could also be trialled on a standard board, if the rail was flat enough or there was a specific shape, that allowed for this.

Re: T-Belly G6
The thickness flow of my boards keeps changing - its now more evenly distributed than Larry's original. Also a bit more tail lift., though less than a standard board.

Bordeaux surfing exhibition with plankys
The latest Surf Blurb (edited by Jeremy Lemarie) posted a piece on an exhibition dedicated to surfing, hosted by the Aquitaine Museum in Bordeaux from June 2019 to January 2020. It may be worth checking out. Jeremy said he might write a piece on planks. We also have an interview in the pipeline with...

Latest board from Chris Garrett
Here is my latest board by Chris Garrett AKA Phantom northern NSW. MM8-deck.jpg MM8_profile.jpg MM8_3.jpg MM8.jpg It is a little thicker than the previous board and the concaves are deeper. It is 54" x 21' A bit over 1 7/8 at it's thickest. It rides a bit different to the previous board, but I ...

How thick is this board? I have a new double concave - I'll post some photos up in a separate thread. Interesting to see we both started ata Goddard style board and have gone in divergent paths.

If you aren't flexible in the shoulders or have had shoulder injury, a back zip is way easier.

Re: New summer Groveler
An alternate take. I have a board that I think is too heavy. It's not responsive in smaller conditions and is a momentum board - once it gets going it barges through all manner of sections, collapsing tubes. It is not a lively/responsive board. Where weight comes from the glass job, a lighter board ...

Re: New summer Groveler
My new board (as yet not ridden) is more like 7-8 lbs. They have heavier glass jobs for travelling and I don't find it slows the board (perhaps other than in small weak waves). They possibly sit more in the wave face. I tried a leash on the leg, too much board flapping around and longer to regain po...

Re: Question about skegs
I have 2 boards that I have ridden both finless and finned. I can't say I notice any increase in speed when I ride them finned. There can be less control and the turns aren't as tight finless, but no loss in speed. As Nomas noted above, a lot of variables are at play that can influence speed. In sma...
