Re: Handsfree selfie stick

lol, the northern accent, you need to go and surf staithes some epic waves there, the cove is like pipeline! yes the back zip isnt popular anymore as it far inferior for neck comfort and seal. I think O neill are one of the few companies that stil do a high end back zip due to demand in the californ...

Re: Getting Churchill fins to fit

churchills have been through many changes, the OG natural rubber ones that everybody liked are long gone. what you are getting now is a mystery. are you wearing them barefoot? i have never purchased a set of fins that have been that tight. if they were the size is too small. why do you get them so t...

Re: Quad Concave Body Board Study

I was In the shed so thought I would take a few pics, (remember photo make optical illusions, and the bodyboard looks less wide due to it different rail colours) It's funny that my 42" bodyboard also measures 41.5", they are never as accurate as a shaped surfboard. so here you can see the ...

Re: Quad Concave Body Board Study

dk bb.jpg I prefer the pointed nose of my paipo as it give a more relaxed arm position if i hold the nose rather than a bodyboard front corner. I also like the belly i can shape in the paipo nose, i find this aids catching waves and maybe cutes through chop is weak choppy waves. but i have been ris...

Re: Quad Concave Body Board Study

I think the nose has way less effect on the board than you think it does, I feel i could make the next copy of my board with the same blunt nose as the bodyboard the template was taken off and it would not ride noticeable differently. That part of the board is hardly in the water when riding. My bod...

Re: Quad Concave Body Board Study

Comming from 20 years of bodyboards into paipos i knew what i liked in bodyboards. In nearly 50 years of bodyboards I think they have definitively shown that the optinum length covers a very short range. Being 5.10 a 42" would be typical for me,and thats what i have found to be optimum. 41"...

Re: Quad Concave Body Board Study

I have been looking at the trend in Body Boards to use quad concaves. The shallower inner set is for turning and taking a high line and the outer set to move water out the back fast and to further help with turning when sunk. Most of the BB makers have at least one in their line up. Its interesting...

Re: End of an Era

A few years back you might have thought that the whole industry would move to epoxy and it would be hard to find a laminator that still did the old toxic poly. But as you say it seems that either epoxy is in house only for the big boys and not being of interest to the small guys. have you tried a va...

Re: fish the movie

Krusher, do you have editing skills or just views on what makes a good video? I'm giving some serious thought about a short video on Hawaiian paipo boards. Bob I have No editing skills, I just notice when videos have no narrative or continuity. There are hundreds of online resources the give the Sk...

Re: fish the movie

Jeez guys...I watched this back when it was posted and thought it was fine. If I recall it was not a Red Bull product; I suspect Red Bull is just making it available, which I appreciate (especially ofter looking at their other offerings). Nels I think maybe wires are crossed, we were mostly (i thin...

Re: "swimming board" elva fin swim

That's a very complicated expensive design to not even have a thought for waves. I always wonder how many of these things ever sell. As far as surfing, i'st forcing you to be very far back with that much volume in front of your I think will make it very hard to surf. I could get a bodyboard to padd...

I'm glad you guys had the same feelings about the redbull video as me (fell like I'm just a moaning old fart sometimes) I think its an unfortunate modern thing that now with such easy access the good quality video gear (or just do it on your phone) That people have no idea there are many other skill...

Re: fish the movie

A guy in california brought me a board to the beach once to try that had been made as a prone board but was basically small fish, I took is out and hated it. I think it was about 4.10 but was just far too long, you had to be constantly moving to the front to make it go and right to the back to get o...

Re: Finless surfing by John Galera

I can see that designs failings in that one video, no hold and drive from the rail on the take off to make clean face. Then really no rail grip at all once the whitewater hits. The rail is blown and he's sliding pretty much the whole time.
