Re: Paipo Gathering in San Simeon Aug 3-5, 2012
Today's water temp for that area was 54 degrees (out at the bouy 10+ miles offshore). It will probably be warmer in a couple of weeks. For me a 3/2 would work just fine. But I have is a 4/3, because the water up here is colder. I am very warm in 54 degrees. But yoy might used to warmer water.

Hi,
I am planning on attending. I guess I should reserve a camping spot. I am still trying to decide on my exact schedule.

Re: Interesting Rash Guard
Has anyone tried the rib guards yet? My ribs are really bothering me today after dropping in and riding some big rough waves at Ocean Beach in San Francisco yesterday.

Re: Fin recommendations
I lost one of my fins when I hit some kelp at high speed so I decided to try another fin out. Here are the new ones: http://www.futuresfins.com/fin-detail.php?id=188&largeimg=twinkeel_akila_full.jpg . Anyway they work great! These are the best of the three fins I have used with this board. The a...

Re: Leash for fiberglass paipo/bellyboard?????
ClanB, I did meet a bodyboarder who uses a leg leash attached to a plug to the nose of his board. You could try that at some point. Having the plug on the nose and attached to the ankle would drag better. I don't know if it interferes with paddling and kicking. My ankle leash does get tangled up or ...

Re: Leash for fiberglass paipo/bellyboard?????
I have been using an ankle leash for last 15 years or so. I used them even on my bodyboards. I got tired of having my arm almost yanked off when big ones come through. I have the plug at the tail of my board.

Re: Latest T-Belly
I like having volume on my board. I can catch waves much earlier or deeper and you can make through slow sections when on a thinner board would slow down or stop. But I cannot duck dive it in anything but small foam or through the top of wave. But I think it is worth the drawbacks. The volume really...

Re: New T Belly Board
Thanks for your input. I will focus more board position with different maneuvers. I have noticed that holding body weight back at time has helped quite a bite. I usually turn right when I get on a wave. I only drop straight down when I catch a wave too late or I catch a bad wave and I don't want to ...

Re: New T Belly Board
Well I think that moving the thickness a little forward would help when taking a big steep drop it might help keep the nose out the water (The front end of my board is a little on the thin side. The thickest part of the board is about 4-6" behind where my chest rests when on a wave. Also it mig...

Re: New T Belly Board
Well the Jury is in. I have ridden this board for about 5 months now and I think it rides great. I took awhile to transition over from a bodyboard. I have mostly been surfing at the point and reef breaks around Pleasure point in Santa Cruz. Even in big surf these waves are pretty flat once you get o...
