Re: Quad Concave Body Board Study

But in recent years the thought comes to me that maybe Morey invented something that was 60% "there" right at the beginning. That seems insane, right? But it's going to be 50 years Nels The original Morey Boogie Board was 45 inches, long, 25 inches wide, So that's a 1.8 length to width ra...

Re: Quad Concave Body Board Study

Follow-up to previous post: Jay Reale of ebodyboarding.com here in California told me a couple of years ago that bodyboard materials start to give it up after a year. Heat and other factors make them start to deteriorate. Inevitable no matter the care. I'm one of the people who hang on for years. T...

Re: Quad Concave Body Board Study

Wow, my eyes tricked me. I looked at actual specs of MND compared to Hubb board. There is actually more difference between wp to nose and wp-tail of hub than MND. The defining difference is in the NTWP (Nose to wide point). Hubb is further forward than MND. I suppose that makes it look less rounded...

Re: Quad Concave Body Board Study

Hub design is quite unusual in the bodyboard pro world. most including myself ride a board that has a curve that balances of speed/maneuverability. His leans more to the speed side. He is also one of the few pros that ride a battail, this also promotes more speed, but make the tail looser and easier...

Re: Quad Concave Body Board Study

I was using "blunt" to refer to the lack of a point on the BB nose outline profile. I agree that nose width and thickness are separate attributes to be considered as well. Perhaps it would be more appropriate to say a BB has a squared off nose profile that may or may not have a blunt thic...

Re: Quad Concave Body Board Study

find even being a prone rider I am goofy, being right-handed i feel better going left with my right hand on the outer rail. So I feel an asymmetrical board could be advantageous, that get you away from having to bother about sides being the same. I'm with you on the first sentence, but you lost me ...

Re: Quad Concave Body Board Study

It can be agonising building new boards being around it for weeks sometimes, knowing all the small imperfection and mistakes in it. I battle with symmetry getting the left and right side profiles exactly the same I find even being a prone rider I am goofy, being right-handed i feel better going lef...

lol, the northern accent, you need to go and surf staithes some epic waves there, the cove is like pipeline! yes the back zip isnt popular anymore as it far inferior for neck comfort and seal. I think O neill are one of the few companies that stil do a high end back zip due to demand in the californ...

Re: Getting Churchill fins to fit

churchills have been through many changes, the OG natural rubber ones that everybody liked are long gone. what you are getting now is a mystery. are you wearing them barefoot? i have never purchased a set of fins that have been that tight. if they were the size is too small. why do you get them so t...

Re: Quad Concave Body Board Study

I was In the shed so thought I would take a few pics, (remember photo make optical illusions, and the bodyboard looks less wide due to it different rail colours) It's funny that my 42" bodyboard also measures 41.5", they are never as accurate as a shaped surfboard. so here you can see the ...

Re: Quad Concave Body Board Study

dk bb.jpg I prefer the pointed nose of my paipo as it give a more relaxed arm position if i hold the nose rather than a bodyboard front corner. I also like the belly i can shape in the paipo nose, i find this aids catching waves and maybe cutes through chop is weak choppy waves. but i have been ris...

Re: Quad Concave Body Board Study

I think the nose has way less effect on the board than you think it does, I feel i could make the next copy of my board with the same blunt nose as the bodyboard the template was taken off and it would not ride noticeable differently. That part of the board is hardly in the water when riding. My bod...

Re: Quad Concave Body Board Study

Comming from 20 years of bodyboards into paipos i knew what i liked in bodyboards. In nearly 50 years of bodyboards I think they have definitively shown that the optinum length covers a very short range. Being 5.10 a 42" would be typical for me,and thats what i have found to be optimum. 41"...
