Re: Dr. Robert's Sefiroth Bonzer Paipo
Yo Mr. Levens and Krusher! Regarding handle placement, I took my cue from the Theisz/Calhoun board as the baseline and just figured out the ratio of board length to handle location as a percentage, and applied it to my 4'6" and 5'0" boards. As in: the 3'10" Theisz/Calhoun baseline boa...

Re: Dr. Robert's Sefiroth Bonzer Paipo
Hiya all, First off , I haven't taken possession of the Sefiroth model yet, so no personal ride report. That will change in a couple weeks…however Malcolm has ridden it (at Oxnard Shores btw), and had a jolly good time. This board is an almost replica of my other 5ft Bonzer which was described in th...

Hollywoods choice around that time for all the horrifying Beach Blanket Bingo films was: "Surfboards by Phil"
This could be one..and the belly board looking vehicle could either be a hologram, or maybe a "Dextra".
Did I win a prize?

Re: 5 fin bonzer ready to be ridden
Rod..you are correct sir! in any case, the rider who ordered this board lives down Orange County way in SoCal. he loved his Eaton Bonzer and wanted it replicated..some tweaking has gone on , 5 fin set up for one, and especially the nose template, so it will be interesting to get his feed back on dif...

Re: Date this board
I'll stick with my original theory that the skeg/rudder is key to estimating the vintage of this board. I will also add that throughout the 50's and 60's in the U.S., woodshop was frequently a required class in the Junior High (7th-9th grade) curriculum. So this little thing could well have been one...

Re: Date this board
JWB.. interesting! The Paipoboards California was Gordon Theisz' label for boards he primarily made in the 60's. (He also shaped a handful under the Hobie label). All that I have seen or heard about were variations on the Froiseth design.. template, fins, handle etc, including the one I have he made f...

Re: Date this board
nice one on picking up the Oregon Coast influence..the eyeglasses and camo' cap are also clues. still, it's a pretty interesting template. stretch that thing out a bit, get some decent rail, bottom, foil ,and fin action going and I'll bet it's a goer. it's got the aspect ratio thing going. see ya' d...

Re: Date this board
judging by the Madras shorts, and the duck hunting vest, I'm guessing about 1963. Possibly pre-Beatles..but close to that time frame. As far as the board..well, the clue is the template of the skeg/rudder. I'm guessing early 50's mindset, probably made mid, late fifties. Probably not West Coast, sam...

Re: Bonzer 5 Fin Proposal
Yo Rod and Poobah, don't know what the board will turn out like as (of yesterday) Malcolm hadn't spoken to the owner of the Eaton board..he did receive an order from him via Moonlight Glassing showing he wanted a 4'3", 5 fin Bonzer paipo, but that may change during discussions. Regarding the 5 ...
