I've been running FCS C-GRV fins for a couple of months now.
Very happy with all aspects of them.

Re: Something different or not?

Rasta would love them. He could use plastic from recycled water bottles like the Chinese made Billabong shorts he promotes and the logos would stand out like dog's balls. Seriously though...my mind is clicking over with the possiblities after watching that short video. You could thermoform a hollow ...

Re: Something different

True enough, that's why I actually waited for a couple of years before deciding to let Mark who shaped my board make me one which is unusual for me as I lack patience when wanting to try a new kind of board. I looked into having an Austin shipped over but the cost was prohibitive. Read all the info ...

Re: Something different

True enough Uncle G. :) Then we confuse the Brits if we call it (fibreglass prone board) a bellyboard because they call their paipos (wooden prone boards) bellyboards. I usually refer to my board as a prone board or bellyboard so I'll attempt to continue with that description to save confusion. In r...

Re: Something different

Hi Bob, Dick told me $850 and that would be eps/epoxy with the handles just as his features and also with a legrope plug. If you type "More turtle" in the fish fry blogspots search box it will come up with my 4'2". You could refer the chap to Mark Pridmore who'll happily shape him one...

Re: Something different

I've had a few boards from Dick and I was about to give him a call and ask him about a prone board. He rides his 9' carbon fiber all rounders prone quite a lot due to hip problems already. So I've got straight onto the phone with him. He's also made this style prone board as a 6'8". The 5'er is...

Re: Custom hand made board cover for freakishly small board

O ;) oops...shows how much I know about Vdubs.
I've only owned a 67 bug back in the 80's but another driver decided she didn't like the entire drivers side and panel beat it into a new shape for me with her car.

Re: Swim fins/flippers

Are there any Aussies using Vipers and/or UDTs? If so did you buy them in Australia or have them shipped over? If I have to buy them from the US I may order a pair of both Viper 7 yellow dots and a pair of UDTs. I wear a size 11-11.5 US shoe and in tropical waters (no booties required) so I'm thingk...

Re: Custom hand made board cover for freakishly small board

I like them. By the look of the fabric choice and the fastback Mike's the hippy! :) Do you just do a single layer of fabric or double layer? I can't source the foam/fabric I used on the pictured cover anynore which is a shame. The wax didn't seem to stick to it which is a bonus when getting the boar...

Custom hand made board cover for freakishly small board

IMG_20110922_142911-1.jpg Since my local shaper, Mark Pridmore shaped the GST (gut sliding turtle) - all 4'2" X 22 1/2" X 3s" of it I have two options of getting it to the beach. Straight in the boot of the Toyota Camry sedan. Or I can even ride my Vespa PX 200 scooter to the beach. ...

Re: Are there any Commercial Paipos available on the market

When I have been describing my foam and fibreglass board with fins I just call it my "prone board" and everyone seems to get it which is good. I do like to refer to it as my "gst" (gut sliding torpedo) as well when on surfing forums. When out surfing it most people look straight ...

That board Rasta has is very similar to my gst although my board has a deep double concave bottom.
Interesting.

Swim fins/flippers

What's everyone using?
I'd like to try some Viper 7's or UDT's but would have to order them on-line as I don't know of anywhere selling them in Australia.
Currently using Pod 2's which I've found very comfortable sans booties/socks.
Would like a little more kicking power though.

Re: The next big thing

Rasta is jumping on the bandwagon a little late. The US have dibs on the game. http://bingsurf.com/surfboards_speedsquare There's a You tube video on there too. Looks just like/my gst looks just like: the speed square. I've tried riding my 4'2" standing up. It's challenging but to be honest I h...

Re: Fin recommendations

IMG_20120102_091451.jpg One more photo. The wind is onshore this morning and looking less than inviting so the test run for the fins will have to wait for a cleaner day. The one good thing about these curved fins is that they will be safer than the fibreglass ones I pictured in page 2 of this threa...

IMG_20120102_091438.jpg Still having a tonne of fun using my Kelly Slater fins that I bent curves into so I've splashed out and bought some Webber curves which are much more extreme to try. I have a triple fcs plug set up so I'll try them in the forward plugs first since they are fairly large. I fi...
