Oahu

Had the pleasure of a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year with the whole dam Fam..... But more importantly..... got in the water on all four shores. Makapuu Point on the East Shore. Should be called the washing machine. Less than head high but I have never worked harder in my life. Makaha on the West...

Hey Ted......I am also wondering if you have had a chance to try out your new 44 inch Austin and how it compares with the standard 50 inch in the water?

http://www.centralcoast-tourism.com/

As you can see Ron the Central Coast Tourism Council even includes you Ventura folk in the Central Coast area. Frankly I think they have overstepped their bounds a bit. In my book anyone South of Santa Barbara County is not worthy of the designation. 8-)

Re: a good day for ear plugs

Looks like fun Mike. Coronado Ca.....near San Diego.....correct? 58 degrees is cold water huh. Up here on the Central Coast we laugh at 58 degrees. You SoCal boys can't handle cold water. Pussies. As for my buddies in Oregon who wear 5+ mm in the Summer they must be rolling over in the barrel.....as...

Re: Wishbone Board

Personally I like the Churchills but without fins socks foregaboutit. That goes double for UDTs....which are more powerfull but yea....the potential torque factor on the bod is worrisome to me. Oneill makes a good 2mm open heel fin sock which I use in the warmer water.....and a 3mm closed heel over ...

Re: New T Belly Board

JBW.....I really like my Austin but your new T belly board looks interesting. What inspired you to seek out this particular shaper? Had he shaped prone boards before? Were the specs his or yours? What was the price for the board? And please excuse the ignorance.....why is it called a T belly board? ...

Re: Visit to Hawaii

Now that is just plain wrong Rod. You and Ted look way too warm. Spudnut and I were out over the week-end here in central CAL and even with a 4.3mm my teeth were chattering.

Re: Austin paipo shared shipping to HI?

Thanks Rod....very interesting. I am seriously considering "stretching the envelope". I found following from John Elwell interview of particular interest. Sage advice.....especially the last sentence. 8-) 14. In an e-mail you mentioned that Simmons did not make bellyboards himself. So, the...

Re: Austin paipo shared shipping to HI?

Hey Ted.....tried the new board out yet? I am revisiting this post because of the recent "Blue Plate Special" post by Skiff that sings the praises of bigger being better. I also took Rod's observation to heart about sternum length keeping the knees off the board. For me that would be about...

Very interesting. 1. Am I getting the dimensions correct at 6' long.....3" thick.....29" width? 2. Did you make it yourself? 3. Is that Moro rock I see in the photo? 4. If you come South PM me....I am in Santa Barbara and have some Ventura buddies that ride Austins and such...... typically...

Re: Austin paipo shared shipping to HI?

Hey Ted.....wish I could personally deliver it. I believe my off the rack Austin is 50" by 21" by 2.5". 1. What is your thinking in knocking 6" off the length and going thinner? 2. Can you share what Austin charges for a custom job? 3. I will be especially interested in hearing h...

Thanks RNT.....yes I mean Lanikai. I appreciate your suggestions. Now what about that super secret spot you are keeping to yourself? Just kidding. Spudnut.....we are there 12/23-1/2. We have a full house but there are other rental houses available. Make it happen. PM me about the waves at Dumpsters ...
