Re: Renting Boards
I was outside of Mo Bay once, there was nothing breaking. Drove down to the SW coast past Negril and....flat. One guy I talked to said SE towards Kingston had more surf. If you head to JA bring a snorkel and fins....lots to see under the sea. If you have to bring a board you could make a plywood pai...

Re: Austin mini paipo (44") impressions
Try it with just the side bites. I did that at GP, that was a mistake. The hatchet would give good hold though....rodndtube wrote:Nice surf off! In a couple of those late takeoffs it would not have mattered which board/fin combo

Re: Austin mini paipo (44") impressions
Try the 50 with the 3" fins and bites. I was using a 4.5" center and the 2" sides, when I switched it up so all of the fins were the same (3.5") it felt much more responsive, at least under me. So easy to drop in and crank if around to get in position and only once did I slide ou...

Re: Renting Boards
Def think about Hatty. It's reasonable. Drive isn't too bad, either. Talk to Rod for the details, start working on the mrs now so you can get the time off.

Re: Renting Boards
I have never been to Hatteras, but it is on my list! Let me know wnen you are heading out to SC. I might be able to make it out. Do you ever snowboard at Cataloochee, Rick? I have been low on time and money this winter, but I usually head out there a few times each season. SC is in early April, Hun...

Re: Renting Boards
How about making a plywood board (or having one of the guys on here) make one for you? Something that would fit in a bag that you could use to load up with other gear. Atlanta, we should trip it to Hatteras once. I'm up in Asheville, 3.5h away from you. I'll be in SC (south of Myrtle) in April, haul...

Re: Credit where credit is due (rant).
The kid can swim. This spring I'll get her some new fins so she can paddle out a bit more. I always use a leash on the paipo unless it's small or uncrowded. Save me a swim or keep someone from getting pelted. On my longboard I'll surf w/o so my leg isn't removed from the socket. :) Good ol' Frisco p...

Re: Credit where credit is due (rant).
Ya pervs! That stringy thing is a kook cord. Azul had seen limited time in the water thus far and I didn't want it to get washed away. Hey, I got her to step away from the Morey 7-7, which was a feat. She'll be using Red 90 paipo in FL this June. :) If I was closer to the coast (maybe next summer) a...

Re: Credit where credit is due (rant).
Interesting thread. For me, Rod in the 00s. I kept wondering WTF he was riding. Never borrowed one, just watched him use them at GP over the years. One year I got to ride one...wow, no flex. I bought red, the rest is history. Credit has to go way back and follow through to today. Some of you get cre...

Re: Time Sensitive - Beach Access in the Outer Banks
I have emailed Beth, the person from the DOT. She is very open to hearing your opinions. Please be nice if you email her, the fact that any state agency allows you to talk to someone directly is rare in NC. (I work for the state, we usually setup a blind address for this type of stuff). Rod, you're ...

Re: Swim fins/flippers
I have some Toobs Blunts that I like. I have some fairly big/wide feet, they fit well. I had orange dots (V5 I think) and I put them on, walked to the water...then cramped up. I paddled out, hoping they'd loosen up but no. I had cramps in both legs before I made it in.

This isn't too much larger than a paipo, I think rasta would sign and ride this if there was some coin in it for him.
