There was a lot going on. I came across looking for my paipo videos. Bird's account was interesting.

54 x 21 x 2ish. It's likely going to be made from 2" sheets. The last 2' may be a little thicker.

Re: Lockdown special The Bat Lid

I find if I've just been surfing rights for weeks, initially surfing left feels less natural and vice versa.

Re: TBG7

I'm going 2" longer, 1/4" wider and about an 1" thicker - a lot of the board was around 1".

Re: TBG7

I'm not planning on going too high volume but probably a bit more than the current 21-22 litres. Where there is a nice peak or lump to launch from, this is less of an issue. Burying the tail and launching can help sometimes, as well as bigger fins, but they can be a killer on the legs sometimes or a...

New paipo interview: Terry Wilson from the UK

The last paipo interview was published in 2018. It featured Pete Berry an innovative guy who made and rode kneeboards, but started off on paipo boards and retained an interest in them. This interview is with another innovator, Terry Wilson from the UK. The UK is better known for wooden bellyboards. ...

Re: TBG7

Thanks Nomas.

Basically, whether flat faced or hollow, I wanted something that will get me into bigger waves earlier. The issue with fuller waves is there no barrel to pull into.

At this stage I may refine my current design or get something different - a discussion yet to be had.

Re: TBG7

Hello Nomas, From the above dimensions, your boards are about 1" narrower than mine, 1/8" thicker and 6" shorter but have a bit more volume. I'm considering a higher volume board, for bigger, fuller/flatter walled waves that are harder to get into. When you want to increase volume for...

The founder of Kuta lines was Tony Brown,. They4 didn't make boards, so the logo may be a Balinese copy.

Re: French paipo

I have a very low rocker fibgreglass board. As soon as a wave gets hollow it nosedives. My advice, unless only riding really full waves, a reasonable level of rocker is advisable. Quite a while ago, there was a discussion about board length. I think Larry Goddard had advocated .7 of your height. Rod...

Re: French paipo

Sean Ross rides places like Cloudbreak and G-Land on a HPD, but then he rode them at Pipeline as well. For your average person, they are a great planning machine suited to long walls. Trying one recently, you need to put time into them, to get the most out of them. The sense of width took some adjus...

Re: Mediterranean Paipo Sessions (Valencia, Winter 2021)

The flattening effect of a POV seems to reduce a decent size wave to a fat shoulder so I think they are most interesting for a barrel view. My aim is to see if I can get a few decent barrel views this year or next. I bought a shoulder mount but haven't used it yet. Somewhere hollow with no-one else ...

Re: French paipo

Zensuni, Does your shaper use AKU shaper or similar? If so, have a look at what the volume that results from your design. I like a lower volume board, but have gone too low if I want to catch larger waves. The volume may have been ok for a younger guy. I also used to go very thin in the nose area, f...
