Re: Paipo Gathering - Fall 2015?
I am just checking to make sure I got all the info correct. Skiff and ??? will be arriving on SAT. 10/10. I know several others are arriving on SUN 10/11 and leaving on Tues. I have a a site at Ocean Mesa for Sun and Mon. Poobah wants to share with me. I was wondering if it would be good for me to g...

I haven't had any really great surf, but some different waves big and small. It rides great with the pad on. But it definitely added som...

Re: New Paipo Board Build
Thomas, I am glad you liked them. Alot of people think that they are kind of big. What they don't realize is that these are only about 16 square inches and most keel like fins are about 26 sq ". Even my Twinzer and Aipa twins are about 19 sq ". And most people describe their fish or mini s...

Re: Paipo Gathering - Fall 2015?
I just reserved a spot at Ocean Mesa for 10/11-13. I don't know what number it is. I am actually coming down on 10/10 Sat. I got a room in Lompoc. I didn't want to pay $150 for a Motel 6 in Goleta maybe I'll switch to Carpenteria North for $100 a night. We'll see. I am probably going to stay around ...

Re: Paipo Gathering - Fall 2015?
There are spaces available at El Capitan state park from Sunday 10/11 onwards. Looks I'll get one of those spaces. I still haven't figured out my intinerary. I was thinking about arriving on Sat. Maybe I'll stay in a hotel one night on Sat and then camp at El capitan state park. I wanted to make a 5...

They are your regular medium large thruster side fins. I like them alot. I have used them on other main board.

Re: New Paipo Board Build
I know that this is kind of a long thread, but I thought someone might want to see how build my boards. Here it is after polishing with Surfboard Polish #2 from Fiberglass Hawaii. WP_20150827_15_23_57_Pro.jpg WP_20150827_13_00_01_Pro.jpg I already had some orange fins to match. I rode it this weeken...

Re: Paipo Gathering - Fall 2015?
I could do sun, mon, tues. I could go with El Cap or most any other campground public or private. It looks like Rod has certain dates that he can come. So the question is whether the spots at El Captian beach get swell that early or not.

Re: Paipo Gathering - Fall 2015?
I looked online and there are no spaces available Friday and Saturday during October at El Capitan. There are weekday spaces available. At Emma Wood there are only "Walkups" available with no reservation after Oct 1. Maybe the private campground in SB is the way to go.

Re: Paipo Gathering - Fall 2015?
I am up for almost anytime or location. However, EC seems like a nicer place. I have always wanted to surf there. But I don't know when the swell comes in. Also, I know that up north here in Nor Cal it would be too cold and rainy after the end of October. Maybe the weather is better down there. I wo...

Re: New Paipo Board Build
Here is my board after putting a gloss coat on both sides. WP_20150819_09_24_06_Pro[1].jpg It is more of a cheater coat to fill in all my glassing imperfections. I hated to sand it down. This is the board sanding down with 220, 400, 600 and 1000 wetsand. WP_20150820_15_39_03_Pro[1].jpg Tonight I'll ...

Re: swim fins - DaFin
I have been using Force Fins since they came out except for one brief stint with Redleys. They are very comfortable and lots of power, if use the Pro Force model. The regular and Rip Force do not have enough thrust for me. If just got a new pair of ProForce fins (my third pair. I left my last pair i...

Re: New Paipo Board Build
We'll see how it goes with double 6 oz. My last two boards had triple 4 oz on both sides and it worked great. I have no stringer so I have added some more glass on theses boards. On my next board I might try a one 4 oz and one 6 oz top and bottom or even double 4 oz. It seems like the double 6 oz to...

Re: New Paipo Board Build
Here is a view of the top tale after lamination with the leash plug in. I put the leash in the middle this time. I always have had it on the the corner, because I thought it would gouge my wetsuit in the center. But I am hoping that with leash in the middle the board will pull through the water. whe...

Here are some photos of my build: This is picture the top being sealed with epoxy and Microballons WP_20150730_18_54_56_Pro[1].jpg . Re: How long?
Rod, On my boards I keep my feet out the water most of the time and ride forward also. But when wave slows down to a crawl my feet will go into the water. What I am wondering about is how low you have to go to able to keep your knees bent at 90 degrees ALL the time like you see in mat riders or the ...
